"Maybe it's a resentment that goes back to their unsuccessful attempt to disarm subjects that started a rebellion and lost them a colony, maybe it's jealousy at being denied trust afforded their American cousins, or maybe it's just being aware they are subjects of a queen. Regardless, the snotty attitude toward U.S. gun owners, famously exemplified by unwelcome import Piers Morgan, is alive and well in the British press." ... |

"Charlotte Lane, a Republican running for West Virginia's 2nd Congressional District seat, evidently raised eyebrows Monday, with her affirmative answer to the question of whether or not the Second Amendment protects the right to own 'bazookas.' The occasion was her appearance on the Hoppy Kercheval Talkline radio show. Kercheval started with the more general question of what the Second Amendment means to her. "Our gun laws are crazy and I think legislators in gun-grabbing states made them that way on purpose. Their laws make criminals out of honest and responsible gun owners. Now what are we going to do about it?"
"These laws were never intended to stop violent thugs. They were designed to secure political donations and punish the political minority of gun owners during an election year. In the last year, gun laws have become even more onerous. Now we see a wave of deliberate civilian disobedience by honest gun owners. The government made it even more difficult to follow the laws, so gun owners stopped trying. They couldn’t, so the didn’t. ... Seeing is believing, and this is what we find when we look state by state." ... |

"Polymer framed striker fired handguns are all the rage at the moment, but there’s always something that bugged me about them. The basis of the guns are a metal chassis, but in order to make the frame they mold the chassis into the frame itself. That always struck me as a lazy solution to the problem of integrating metal and plastic to form the firearm, and apparently the guys at SIG SAUER thought so too. Building on the earlier P250 platform, they’ve created a truly modular striker fired handgun . . ." ... |

"Barack Obama has been the best firearm salesman the industry could never have imagined. Americans have responded to his manipulation and abuse of power by buying firearms and ammunition in unprecedented quantities, and more and more of those consumers are first-time firearm owners. For those of us who have carried handguns as daily companions, with and without a badge since young adulthood, the revolver vs. semiautomatic argument has gone through many phases as technology, firearms law and societal norms have changed. At one time, the idea that revolvers were in an entirely different–and superior–reliability class than semiautomatic pistols was pretty much taken for granted. That’s no longer true . . ." ... |

"The police officer who shot and killed a 93-year-old woman is out of a job."
"Saturday afternoon, the city council met to discuss taking possible disciplinary action against Officer Stephen Stem. It took them less than 30 minutes to reach a unanimous vote to fire him."

"Open carry is legal in Wisconsin. The state has a strong preemption law forbidding local governments from inflicting a confusing patchwork quilt of conflicting ordinances on gun owners. A mother noticed that one of the people using a park in the town of Oconomowoc was openly carrying a holstered pistol and posted a picture of it on Facebook, wondering if it was legal. A local Milwaukee television station, WTMJ, noticed the post and sent reporter Steve Chamraz to ask questions of local officials in Oconomowoc, where the park is located . . ." ... |

"It's legal to openly carry a gun in public in Michigan, but just when that crosses the line from constitutional right to criminal act can be tricky for law enforcement." ...
"'At that time, a lot of our officers were new to seeing someone open carry,' the assistant chief said. 'They knew about the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and we always knew you could carry a gun out, but how do you approach the situation without violating people’s Fourth Amendment rights (against unreasonable searches and seizures) too?'" ...
"'We’re in a common law system of law,' [Phillip Hoffmeister, president of Michigan Open Carry Inc.] said. 'The rule under common law says anything is legal unless it’s prohibited, so the reason it’s legal in Michigan is there’s no law prohibiting it.'" ... |

"The gun laws in Japan are incredibly strict, so needless to say making a firearm in your own home is a crime roughly on par with being a terrorist. One 27-year-old Japanese man is finding that out the hard way after being arrested earlier today in Japan’s Kawasaki City on charges of illegal possession of a firearm. The man was found to have a copy of Cody Wilson’s Liberator handgun in his home, along with some pretty cool looking designs cooked up by the Shonan Institute of Technology student himself . . ." ... |
