"Delta Air Lines Inc. has launched new voluntary personal defense training to its more than 14,000 flight attendants."

"Atlanta-based Delta said it was one of the first airlines to offer comprehensive personal defense training."

" 'Our top priority is the safety and security of our customers and our people. We feel that we have a responsibility to our flight attendants and our customers to prepare flight attendants to provide the best security possible onboard', said Anne Corry, director of In-Flight Service Performance Systems." ...

-------
No, to do that you would arm your flight attendants. Flight attendant with hours of training vs. tango with months of training. Who is going to win?

Armed and Unharmed (the necessity of arms from a religious perspective)

This is an article published on the site of an organization called "The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP)." In it, the author explains that the "philosophy" behind gun control is anything but religious because it deceptively promises a "utopian world of joy and peace," dismisses individual responsibility for your actions, empowers evildoers and directly contradicts the mandates of justice.

-------
"The gun-control lobby rallies in the name of peace and safety. By distorting some facts, turning a deaf ear to others or telling outright lies, they suggest that unrestricted access of law-abiding citizens to guns would lead to apocalyptic levels of carnage on the streets. Instead they point to a utopian world of joy and peace in which gun confiscation would solve all problems. Thus, they fill their ranks with 'useful innocents,' ignorant of the underlying agenda they promote."

"The gun control lobby reasons falsely, because they ascribe the evil of criminals to the guns they use."

"Their reasoning is false because they ascribe the evil of criminals to the instrument they use. Thus, they believe that taking guns off the streets will eradicate evil."

"Workplace shootings in America virtually doubled in 2003 from 2002 as did the number of workplace shooting victims according to a new report, 'Terror Nine to Five: Guns in the American Workplace, 1994- 2003' released by Handgun-Free America (see here)."

"In 2002, there were 25 workplace shooting incidents and 33 victims killed. But in 2003, American workplace shootings rose dramatically to 45 incidents, with 69 victims killed and another 46 wounded. The report highlighted a dangerous five-year trend showing consistent increases in the number of American workplace shootings since 1998 when there were only 9 workplace shootings compared to 45 incidents in 2003." ...

How many of those workplaces disarmed their employees, rendering them defenseless?

VPC: Urge U.S. House to Strengthen Assault Weapons Bill

FULL TEXT BELOW:

The Hill newspaper contains an article www.thehill.com/news/051204/nra.aspx reinforcing reports that moderate Republicans are anxious to have a floor vote in the U.S. House on assault weapons.

According to the article:
Centrist Republicans in the House are urging the administration to get involved. In an interview, Rep. Michael Castle (R-Del.) said, "Pressure will build to renew the ban in the coming months."

Castle said he is working with Reps. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Mike Ferguson (R-N.J.) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) to pass a bill that parallels the gun bill passed in 1994.

These members need to hear from local activists that simple renewal is not enough. Current federal law needs to be strengthened to effectively ban assault weapons. Here is the contact information for the listed members:

Mike Castle (R-Del.)
202-225-4165

Christopher Shays (R-Conn.)
202-225-5541

Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)
202-225-4835

Mike Ferguson (R-N.J.)
202-225-5361

Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.)
202-225-5516

LET THEM KNOW THAT IF THE HOUSE ACTS, IT MUST BE ON LEGISLATION THAT WILL WORK TO BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS!

-------
Better yet, let them know if they attempt to renew this ridiculous ban, that you will do everything in your power to send them home this November.

"There are practical reasons why AK-47s are the weapon of choice for young gangstas on the streets of San Francisco."

KABA Note: Weapon of choice??? According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, these weapons are barely used!

"I got my first gun when I was 12. It was a .32 automatic, a small pistol no bigger than the palm of your hand. This guy would come around the neighborhood every three weeks with a backpack full of pistols and sell them for $25 each."

"The latest weapon of choice on the streets, the one getting all the attention today, is the Russian Kalashnikov, or AK-47 - a large assault rifle capable of holding 100 rounds in one clip. On the streets it's called a street-sweeper, because anything it hits gets swept away."

"Some people think that banning assault rifles will somehow stop them from circulating in 'our' society. But even with the current ban, you can still buy an AK-47 on the streets. The same is true for almost any gun, big or small."

"Do not resort to violence or carry a gun or other weapon. Carrying a gun will not make you safer. Guns often escalate conflicts and increase the chances you will be seriously harmed. You also run the risk that the gun may be turned on you or an innocent person will be hurt. And you may do something in a moment of fear or anger you will regret for the rest of your life."

-------
Just don't pay any attention to the millions of cases of armed self defense each year. All of those people were just lucky that the bad gun didn't harm them or someone innocent.

"I hear people asking, 'How do we resist?' and 'How does the ordinary person become involved in creating REAL change in America?' Why not first start by refusing to cooperate with the enemy? 'THEY' may have a greater 'arsenal' of toys at their disposal with which to use against us, but we outnumber them and - realistically - we do NOT have to roll over and play dead 'just because' it's expected of us. Who among us enjoys being a doormat? Why not lend an ear to a new voice for a change? Your voice. My voice. Our voices. We can tune out the same old song and dance nonsense that has led us thus far and opt instead to create something new and different for these times. It is something Americans once held in their hands, but over time, allowed to slip through their fingers. It's called FREEDOM. ..."
