"I hate junk mail. Junk mail comes in many flavors – there’s those newsprint things with ads from the discount stores and supermarkets (they make excellent kindling for my grill, so at least they have one redeeming feature). There's the come-ons from credit card companies, car dealers, et cetera. And then there are the direct mail solicitations that come, courtesy of data-mining some database or other that I’m on. These typically drive me nuts, because I’m not buying what they’re selling. Case in point – missives from the American Association of Retired Persons, a.k.a.: the AARP. They are the nation’s biggest advocacy group for 'seasoned citizens' and apparently, they hate guns as much as Bloomberg and Brady combined." ... |

"I'm a firm supporter of the Second Amendment. I don't think anyone who has read my work previously has a lot of doubt about that. I’m not one of those luke warm supporters either, but a died[sic] in the the wool 2A kind of guy. You won’t hear me touting 'sporting purposes' as a reason to keep some guns legal, but instead hear me say 'the Second Amendment doesn’t care what kind of gun it is'. "Three states are considering laws that would penalize doctors and other health care providers for asking patients or their parents whether they have a gun at home."
"The [NRA] and other pro-gun interest groups argue that doctors violate patients' Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms by inquiring about gun ownership. Doctors say they ask only because of safety concerns. Prohibiting them from asking about guns likely violates the First Amendment, at least one constitutional law expert says." ...
