The 7mm Remington Magnum is one of the most popular magnum cartridges in current production. Versatile and dependable, this old-school cartridge managed to overcome the American shooter’s aversion to the metric with its incredible long-distance ballistic capabilities.
However, the 7mm Rem Mag has been around for a long time (since 1962 to be exact), and the wheels of ammunition innovation haven’t stopped turning. Could a newer long-range ballistic superstar dethrone this popular old-timer? |

Thanks to the crypto currency Solana’s meteoric rise earlier this year, I could afford my own copy of the “great gun” Guns Save Life selected for our Great Guns 2024 drawing. On May 9, 2024, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit published a split decision vacating the conviction of Steven Duarte for violating 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) makes it a crime for any person to possess a firearm if he has been convicted of an offense “punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.” Steven Duarte, who has five prior non-violent state criminal convictions—all punishable for more than a year—was charged and convicted under § 922(g)(1) after police saw him toss a handgun out of the window of a moving car. |

In the future, Colorado’s gun owners will have to pass stricter requirements to hold a concealed carry permit. They will need a locked storage container for any handgun they leave in their car. And they won’t be able to carry their weapon to vote in person. Those are among a half dozen new gun policies passed by Colorado Democrats in the session that just wrapped up. One is already law and the rest are headed to the governor’s desk. |

New polling by Rasmussen and the New York Times translates to bad news for Democrats and especially President Joe Biden as the November election is looming on the horizon.
