The Daily Caller is reporting that there is turmoil in two of the nation’s leading gun prohibition lobbying organizations and the center of the storm allegedly is Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, which has become something of a subsidiary of Everytown for Gun Safety. Both organizations are supported by anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Citing unnamed sources, the Daily Caller said Watts “remains a problem within both” Everytown and the Moms groups. Liberty Park Press has reached out to Watts for a reaction.

There is no question that last year's election represented a significant victory for supporters of the Second Amendment and a defeat for those who want to limit our constitutional freedoms. The American people maintained pro-gun majorities in both the House and the Senate, elected a new president who believes in our God-given right to bear arms, and paved the way to protecting our freedoms before the Supreme Court. We're reminded, however, that there are still some in this country who believe the Second Amendment is for sale.

The president and administration will finalize the hide carry procedures this summer, with implementation of the plan taking place August 1, 2017. Under Ohio law, this issue can now be decided by a school's board of trustees. The result was the policy presented to the trustees for consideration along with procedures that faculty, staff, and trustees who wish to carry must follow.

Stephen and Ester Kim came to the U.S. partly to escape religious and ethnic prejudice in their native Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. There, their future looked bleak. Here, they could embrace hope and a deep desire to improve their lives. They came with simple goals — obtain work, raise a family, practice their faith and be faithful to the admirable values residing in their hearts — desires that are shared by people everywhere.

Final score: Republicans 14, Barack Obama's last-minute regulations, one. Congressional Republicans anxious to show voters they can get something done are hailing their reversal of more than a dozen Obama-era regulations on guns, the internet and the environment. Over a few months, lawmakers used an obscure legislative rule to ram through changes that will have far-reaching implications for the coal industry, broadband customers, hunters and women seeking health care at Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

I told my sixth period class that the state Senate Education Committee voted 9 to 3 to allow teachers to have guns; uproarious laughter ensued. Gasping, one student asked, "So wait, Señorita, you're going to get a gun?" I replied, "I sure am! How's that for incentive to study!" My students spent the next 10 minutes giggling and coming up with possible scenarios: Mr. S shoots off a toe every time you say "um" during a presentation, Señorita asks Apoorva to be quiet for the last time, the lunch bunch of room 207 easily smashes Señorita's particle board desk, steals the gun and plays Russian roulette for french fries. We giggled at the absurdity of it all.

Three Latino men standing in the checkout line at Food Maxx in Rohnert Park reportedly buying bananas and iced coffee were detained at gunpoint by police Thursday afternoon. More than a dozen cops rushed into the store. Shoppers dropped where they stood in the aisles. “The cops came in and ordered them to the ground,” said Anne Jordan, who was shopping at the store in the 600-block of Rohnert Park Expressway, and recalled the men’s choice of fruit and beverage. “The men didn’t want to get down. I thought there was going to be a shootout.”

An idea emerged from convicted murderer, Trevor Brooks, who was in attendance at a previous Silicon Valley entrepreneurship program. Brooks thinks his idea could help to decrease Baltimore’s surging gun violence, by permitting people to turn in their guns to make bail. The kicker is most of the transaction could be completed through a mobile app. Brooks said, if people have the choice of sitting in Central Booking and getting bail, “They’re going to turn their guns in as fast as they can.”

First, a little housekeeping, so to speak. We’ve had a couple of careful readers bug us about our “Open” Glock build, suggesting, in more or (considerably) less polite terms, notions like: “Why in the world should I care about this? I have no plans to ever compete, to say nothing of competing with what even “First Gear” concedes is a less-than-practical carry/duty arm!”.

“Don’t You Ever Give Up Your Guns,”
said Fabio in an interview with LifeZette. “If people lose that right, forget about it. Politicians – they will take everything away from you. And then what are you going to do, protest with a rock? Because that’s what they do in Europe.”
“Just Look At Europe And Go The Opposite Way.”
Fabio gets it. He has obviously looked around his neighborhood, his country, and the world and come to the seemingly obvious conclusion that an unarmed populace will soon fall prey to its own. He understands that as important as the ability to protect ourselves from bad guys in our homes is, the possibly more important purpose is to protect ourselves from own elected officials . . . our government.

I began writing about hunting wild hogs long before Texas became the national hot spot for traveling hunters to pursue their wild pork; long before hog hunting was cool, one might say. Checking some of my “old” newspaper columns that I penned back in the late eighties, I was detailing accounts of my hunts with muzzleloader, bows and friends that hunted hogs with dogs. One of the now decades-old columns I found detailed my annual hunts on the then-45,000-acre Broseco ranch with my friends, Damon Hodges and Wade Cobb. We would get on horseback, head out from the ranch headquarters and follow the strike dogs back into some very, very remote country.

Stephanie Crumley was tired of feeling vulnerable, so she bought a gun and learned how to use it. “I drive across state lines all the time, and when you have to pull over and sleep in a rest area, it’s not safe,” said Crumley, 30, a U.S. Coast Guard reserve and Plymouth native who treks monthly from her home in Tennessee to her post at the St. Clair Shores Station.

Because there is a growing trend of state legislatures legalizing more public places in which firearms can be carried, including university campuses, public schools and on public transportation, we feel compelled to offer some suggestions. First, opposing the trend is futile. The proponents have already ignored the objections of university officials, teachers organizations, medical professionals, police organizations and victims of gun violence. Staunch defenders of the Second Amendment (who, we assume, also defend the Fourteenth Amendment and all other Constitutional Amendments) have seen to it that carrying weapons is part of the American culture.

People who don’t hunt often have misconceptions about the sport. While most understand the purpose of hunting is obtaining healthy, natural meat, there is so much more wrapped up in the experiences. The 2017 spring turkey season rewarded me with memories that will last the rest of my life.

The number of pheasant hunters in South Dakota in 2016 and the number of birds they killed were both down from the previous year, according to the state's upland hunting harvest survey. The Capital Journal reported that slightly more than 61,000 residents and about 81,000 nonresidents took to the South Dakota pheasant fields in 2016, down a few thousand from the 2015 season.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822) |
