On May 15 the New York Times editorial board suggested it is a “bizarre premise” to push campus carry on the grounds that allowing law-abiding students to shoot back will make them safer. The editorial board was particularly bothered by Arkansas and Georgia, both of which legalized campus carry earlier this year, bringing the total number of campus states to 11. (The NYT reports that 10 states have legalized campus carry, but the number is actually 11. Those states are: Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Oregon, Texas, Kansas, and Ohio.) |

A bill that would have barred Nebraska towns and cities from enacting stricter limits on guns than state law allows was pulled from the legislative agenda on Monday after facing stiff opposition from the state's two largest cities. Its sponsor, Sen. Mike Hilgers of Lincoln, withdrew it to work more on legislation that he hopes will bring the city of Lincoln and the League of Nebraska Municipalities on board. He said he's running out of time to fix his gun bill's language this year because lawmakers expect to end the session early next week, but he intends to bring it back early next year. |

It makes fun of liberals, it is pro-Second Amendment, the leading character is a hunter who brings wild game home to the family dinner table and most important of all, it is reportedly a ratings sizzler. But ABC has cancelled the hit sitcom “Last Man Standing,” and now even Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has gotten in on the protest, tweeting to star Tim Allen, “Looks like ABC is playing politics with your show, despite decent ratings.” There is mounting public opinion that Walker hit the bull’s eye. Social media has erupted since the announcement late last week.

STI International has teamed up with self-defense and firearms training expert Chris Costa to design the new Costa series of pistols. The new pistol features an island sight attached to the barrel instead of the slide, with the compensator ahead of the front sight. This technology reduces muzzle jump, which helps the shooter to stay focused on the front sight for follow-up shots. The compensator reduces recoil by 63 percent, while the STI Recoil Master dual spring system reduces recoil even further.

Back when I had a serious job, seeing targets in any lighting condition was critical to having a good day. While thermal and night-vision optics took care of the job outdoors, dealing with indoor threats was normally best handled with white light. Of all the items attached to my Army-issued guns, tactical flashlights and weaponlights were the most important. I could make do without just about any other accessory in the close-range situations I often faced, but an inability to identify and discriminate between good and bad targets simply meant failure.

When will legislators on the state and national level stop catering to gun lobbies and do something to make all Americans safer? Everyone should realize we have a Second Amendment that allows people to own guns and that right is not going to be taken away. But where does that amendment stop and my right to live safely begin? I live in Beaverdale, which most people would consider a good and safe neighborhood, but in the last month there have been three homicides within 1 ½ miles of my home.

It’s around 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday in April, and the Missouri Moms are getting antsy. They’re in Jefferson City to testify against a pair of bills that would further eliminate state gun restrictions. They were scheduled to speak nearly two hours ago, but lawmakers are still discussing the state budget. So roughly two dozen women, wearing matching Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America T-shirts, have relocated to nearby Paddy Malone’s Pub to wait out the funding debate.

More than 100 guns were stolen overnight from a pawn shop in Barboursville. The United States is a big player in the global arms trade, and nationwide, Montana is pretty into the gun business, it has the highest number of licensed gun manufacturers per capita of any state. But not very many Montana guns are sold overseas. Montana’s Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines are trying to change that for people like Peter Noreen. Noreen started and runs Noreen Firearms in Belgrade, which has 15 employees. Several men oversee SUV-sized machines that turn aluminum bricks into gun parts. |

Costs to secure four state-run hospitals under Kansas’ concealed carry law could run close to $12 million annually, with an additional $1 million needed in the first months, according to a new “action plan” from state officials. The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services gave lawmakers a memo Friday that outlined their options to comply with a concealed carry law that will take effect July 1. After that date, any state facility or publicly owned building that doesn’t have metal detectors and armed security guards will have to allow members of the public to bring in concealed handguns.

Americans have become a wilting, withering mass of weak, needy crybabies who have departed far and away from the strength of back, intellect, and character of America's Founders, who created a system that none other has ever equaled. Rather than follow along the path that made America a strong, economically thriving and prosperous nation, many Americans, especially Millennials, pursue petty and paltry pleasures, as would a sloth and a glutton, and claim their slightest whim to be a "right."
