In 2004, the Hornady Manufacturing Company introduced the .17 Hornady Mach 2 (.17 HM2) using a .22 LR case that had been extended and necked down. This cartridge should not be mistaken for the Hornady .17 HMR, which is based on the case of a .22 Magnum. The .17 HM2 is designed to take varmint at 100 yards or more, and performs the task admirably. It develops a similar amount of energy as the .22 LR in foot pounds, but it travels at a higher velocity – resulting in a flatter bullet trajectory.

Known for its low-cost ammo formerly manufactured in Russia, Wolf's best-selling calibers are steel-cased 7.62x39mm and .223 Remington. Wolf is an importer of ammunition that is manufacturer agnostic, as well as brass and steel agnostic. When you see “Wolf Gold,” all that means is that these are brass cartridges. |

The bird was coming on a string. I’d started him with bout of loud yelps on my box call, eliciting a distant shock gobble. Diving for the nearest suitable cover I unlimbered by favorite slate call, slipped a diaphragm call in my mouth and propped the shotgun up on my knee. A few more clucks and purrs on the slate fired him up and each successive gobble sounded closer. This one was looking easy, too easy.

Equipped with a Lothar Walther free-floating barrel, the bolt-action R2Mi from Remington is pitched to those who aren’t deterred by distance. Debuted Thursday but not detailed on Big Green’s website just yet, the new Remington R2Mi rifle has a 30-inch barrel and an overall length of 57-inches, a factor that almost comes as expected with guns chambered in .50 BMG. Using a detachable 10-round magazine, the platform disassembles much the same as an AR-type rifle for cleaning. This, says Remington, makes the R2Mi “one of the simplest 50-caliber rifles to assemble and maintain.”

Folks, I am a Christian. But in all honesty, I was so filled with rage that I was tempted to throw a brick through my beloved 60-inch TV. The source of my extreme anger was another Democrat governor threatening to put a small business–owner out of business permanently for opening his shop and daring to speak publicly against the governor's unconstitutional decrees. |

When it comes to adding a red dot to a pistol, there are three choices: take an existing gun and mill out a mounting slot (preferably done by a qualified gunsmith), buy an aftermarket slide with an optic cut or purchase a new gun with the mounting slot already built in. This last choice might not be the least expensive option, but can often be the simplest way to add an optic. If you have been thinking about trying out a red-dot-equipped handgun, especially for concealed carry, here are some models we think are a great choice.
