In 2004, the Hornady Manufacturing Company introduced the .17 Hornady Mach 2 (.17 HM2) using a .22 LR case that had been extended and necked down. This cartridge should not be mistaken for the Hornady .17 HMR, which is based on the case of a .22 Magnum. The .17 HM2 is designed to take varmint at 100 yards or more, and performs the task admirably. It develops a similar amount of energy as the .22 LR in foot pounds, but it travels at a higher velocity – resulting in a flatter bullet trajectory.

Known for its low-cost ammo formerly manufactured in Russia, Wolf's best-selling calibers are steel-cased 7.62x39mm and .223 Remington. Wolf is an importer of ammunition that is manufacturer agnostic, as well as brass and steel agnostic. When you see “Wolf Gold,” all that means is that these are brass cartridges.

The bird was coming on a string. I’d started him with bout of loud yelps on my box call, eliciting a distant shock gobble. Diving for the nearest suitable cover I unlimbered by favorite slate call, slipped a diaphragm call in my mouth and propped the shotgun up on my knee. A few more clucks and purrs on the slate fired him up and each successive gobble sounded closer. This one was looking easy, too easy.

Equipped with a Lothar Walther free-floating barrel, the bolt-action R2Mi from Remington is pitched to those who aren’t deterred by distance. Debuted Thursday but not detailed on Big Green’s website just yet, the new Remington R2Mi rifle has a 30-inch barrel and an overall length of 57-inches, a factor that almost comes as expected with guns chambered in .50 BMG. Using a detachable 10-round magazine, the platform disassembles much the same as an AR-type rifle for cleaning. This, says Remington, makes the R2Mi “one of the simplest 50-caliber rifles to assemble and maintain.”

Apparently not content to allow the GOP and Donald Trump a moment to celebrate, CNN’s headline to a story about Republican Mike Garcia’s victory in California—taking a Democrat-held seat for the first time in more than two decades—found a way to be negative against the president.

Hours after the Wisconsin state Supreme Court smacked down the extension of Gov. Tony Evers’ “stay-at-home” order in a split 4-3 ruling, Fox News was reporting “Several bars across Wisconsin were flooded with patrons,” and in at least one establishment, packed “with mostly young people,” they weren’t social distancing or wearing masks.

Ventura County, California, pivoted on Friday, just days before a hearing was to be held on a request for a preliminary against the county’s decision to close gun stores during the coronavirus shutdown. The case, McDougall v. County of Ventura, was brought by Donald McDougall and Juliana Garcia, as well as the Second Amendment Foundation, the California Gun Rights Foundation, and the Firearms Policy Coalition.

Folks, I am a Christian. But in all honesty, I was so filled with rage that I was tempted to throw a brick through my beloved 60-inch TV. The source of my extreme anger was another Democrat governor threatening to put a small business–owner out of business permanently for opening his shop and daring to speak publicly against the governor's unconstitutional decrees.

Girsan Gun Industry (Girsan) was founded in 1993 in Giresun, Turkey. The company's initial pistol was the Yavuz 16, which is based on the Beretta 92. It passed Turkish military trials and won several contracts with law enforcement and military organizations in country. Since then, Girsan has continued to upgrade its production standards while expanding its lineup of affordably priced pistols inspired by popular designs. This manufacturer has a knack for adding its own touches and upgrades to these platforms while maintaining a high standard of quality and reliability.

When it comes to adding a red dot to a pistol, there are three choices: take an existing gun and mill out a mounting slot (preferably done by a qualified gunsmith), buy an aftermarket slide with an optic cut or purchase a new gun with the mounting slot already built in. This last choice might not be the least expensive option, but can often be the simplest way to add an optic. If you have been thinking about trying out a red-dot-equipped handgun, especially for concealed carry, here are some models we think are a great choice.

The gun community or whatever one wants to call it is rife with various things that the novitiate might read about and think “gee, these guys know what they’re talking about and they say that X matters a lot.” Sometimes they do and it does, and sometimes it really, really doesn’t.

A new package of deer hunting regulations designed to simplify rules and remove barriers to participation was introduced to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission Thursday at the commission’s regular monthly meeting, which was conducted in an online and conference call format due to COVID-19 public health and safety concerns. The regulations, proposed for the 2020 deer hunting season, are scheduled for an NRC vote in June.

In a previous article, I commented on the usefulness of .22 LR shotshells and their limited range. Their use is severely hampered by the poor patterns produced by these shotshells out of rifled barrels. The effective range of these shells can be doubled or tripled with the use of a reverse paradox tube.

Ten different guns cases were on the agenda of the justices’ private conference on Friday, where they met to decide which cases they will hear in the upcoming term.
