"After Senator Joseph Lieberman released contents of his letter to Attorney General Eric Holder supporting a proposed long gun sales reporting requirement in southwest states, the [CCRKBA] today urged Lieberman to instead support an on-going investigation of the [ATF's] botched Project Gunrunner."

"In a letter to Sen. Lieberman, CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb reminded him that press reports and documents relating to Gunrunner indicate that the ATF 'abetted the movement of firearms into the illicit gun market, and ultimately to drug cartels in Mexico.' ..." ...

"The Second Amendment Foundation today publicly thanked the National Rifle Association and California Rifle & Pistol Association for sponsoring two new legal actions that seek enforcement of a case SAF won in 1994 against the City of Los Angeles regarding concealed carry permits."

"The case, Assenza v City of Los Angeles, resulted in a judgment against the city ... for the amount of $50,000."

"'We still have an enlarged photocopy of that check on our wall at the SAF office,' said SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. 'The city has continually failed to live up to the court order that requires the Los Angeles Police Department to issue applications for concealed weapons permits.'" ...

... "Still, if Sen. Lieberman is so concerned about semi-automatic rifles wending their way from U.S. gun shops to Mexican cartels, perhaps someone ought to ask him why he’s not demanding full and open hearings into 'Project Gunrunner' allegations, and insisting on getting to the bottom of ATF management stonewalling accusations—before insisting on giving them yet more power over the very area where their own employees are saying they can’t be trusted."

Another Year, Another Meaningless Brady Scorecard

"It's that time of year again -- the time when the Brady Campaign releases its annual scores and rankings, lavishing praise on state governments that infringe upon the rights of their citizens and scorn on those that respect the Constitution. This year, the occasion was met with about as much enthusiasm as that other spring ritual, the income tax filing deadline. If this is the first you're hearing of the new rankings, let's hope that's because the mainstream media has finally come to its senses about this annual publicity stunt." ...

"Guns don't kill people. People kill people. But homicidal tendencies are not evenly distributed throughout the general population. Criminals, crazies and terrorists pose a heightened threat."

"That's why even those of us who strongly support the Second Amendment also support federal laws prohibiting the most dangerous among us from purchasing or possessing firearms and explosives1."

"There's one problem with what I've written above: The restrictions in place for convicted felons and the seriously mentally ill do not apply to those on terrorist watch lists. ..." ...

"While the overrated NRA gets most of the ink, some of its activities are questionable. Too often the NRA plays ball with the liberal establishment. The NRA sat on the sideline during the Sotomayor Supreme Court nomination while GOA actively fought to defeat her, pointing out her support for gun control. "Tom Givens’ National Tactical Conference and Polite Society match finished up last weekend at the fabulous US Shooting Academy range in Tulsa. About 100 attendees picked from a smorgasbord of hands-on fighting classes, live-fire tactical shooting programs, and relevant classroom lecture. There was a smattering of military, and I’d guess about 15% or so police, with the rest of the student body and staff made up of armed citizens." ...

"When I decided to buy a new .22lr pistol, I knew exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something well-built with a decent sight radius that would eat range ammo all day long. A .22 pistol that’s like a Leatherman multi tool, good for just about every job. Self-defense (yes), practicing shooting fundamentals, target work, plinking or helping a new shooter get started. The obvious choice: a Ruger 22/45." ...

"Without a doubt, the crop of new mini-9 handguns is the gun industry’s biggest craze. Back in the fall of 2006, Kel-Tec brought us the first mainstream affordable mini 9mm in the shape of the PF9. We are now awash with similar offerings from Ruger, Kahr, Diamondback Arms, Kimber, SIG and more. I know these mini-9s are cool-looking. They’re lightweight, easy to conceal (single stack) and the provide the punch of 9mm. Without a doubt, the gunmakers producing mini-9s are making a lot of money selling these hamster guns to the public. But—" ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
