Today, the Colorado House and Senate exchanged multiple anti-gun bills. Senate Bill 256, House Bill 1298 and House Bill 1299 will now be considered by the chamber opposite their origin. Please contact your State Lawmakers and ask them to OPPOSE these anti-gun measures. House Bill 1298 allows for the indefinite delay of firearm transfers. Current state law allows licensed firearm dealers to proceed with firearm transfers if the Colorado Bureau of Investigation does not make a determination within three days for what is supposed to be an instant background check done by computers. It is also what federal law considers appropriate for firearm dealers in other states that use the federal NICS background check system.

Louisiana and Texas may soon join the 20 states already removing restrictions on their citizens to lawfully carry their firearms concealed without a permit (often called constitutional carry). In Louisiana, constitutional-carry legislation passed both chambers in the forms of H.B. 596 and S.B. 118. “This important legislation ensures that citizens are able to exercise their right to self-defense without government red tape or delays,” reported NRA-ILA.

The high court has been virtually silent on gun rights since 2008’s District of Columbia v. Heller, which established that the Second Amendment includes the right to bear arms in the home. And SCOTUS has never settled the question of whether that right extends to the public sphere. That could soon change. This fall, oral arguments will begin in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett, which seeks to overturn a policy requiring people applying for handgun licenses to demonstrate a pressing need to carry firearms in public. |

Americans have been building guns in their homes since before there was a United States of America, but the anti-rights crowd wants all that to end. Home-built firearms built this country. Long before we rebelled against England — while we were still a British colony — folks were making guns in their homes.

We have often lamented about how the legacy media long-ago abandoned any semblance of neutrality when it comes to the issue of gun control. Most people expect “news” coverage to simply report the facts related to the events of the day—including events related to public policy discussions—then let the public decide what those facts mean to them.

In the time of the smallest good 9mms and the best pocket-size .380s ever, the smallest-frame short barrel double-action revolver still thrives — Smith & Wesson’s J-Frame. If you’re considering one, you have three basic formats: the conventional spur-hammered Chief Special-series dating back to 1950, the shrouded hammer Bodyguard style introduced in 1955, and the “hammerless” Centennial, so named because it came out in S&W’s hundredth year, 1952.

The popularity of the lead flat nose is hard to beat if you’re looking for a great match shooting round or a general target shooting bullet type. The flat nose makes it easier to see exactly where your bullet penetrated a paper target, which makes for much easier scoring, as the hole is cleaner with less radial tearing. Flat-nosed ammunition tends to have a lighter load of powder, so they don’t often give you the same velocity as their lead round nose bullet cousins.

Michigan Democrats on Monday renewed their push to expand background checks to cover all gun sales, citing loopholes that allow online and private transactions to go undetected.
Bills introduced in the Republican-led Legislature would subject the sale of rifles and shotguns, not just handguns, to background checks under state law.
Federal law requires background checks when firearms are bought from licensed dealers but does not cover transactions between unlicensed sellers and buyers — which gun-control advocates have long sought to address.
Democrats pointed to polls in which more than eight in 10 Americans have supported expanded background check requirements in the wake of mass shootings.

A resolution designating Wilkin County as a “Dedicated Second Amendment County” resulted in a tie vote, with commissioner Jonathan Green absent from the Tuesday, May 18 meeting. The county board is scheduled to vote on the resolution again at a June 8 meeting. At the May 11 meeting, the commissioners cited concerns over the language in the resolution and agreed to revisit it. They returned Tuesday to a revised draft, written similarly to a resolution in Roseau County, Minnesota, that passed February 2020. |

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today introduced “constitutional carry” legislation, which would no longer require law-abiding citizens to obtain a government-issued license to carry a concealed firearm in Pennsylvania. Constitutional carry, or permitless carry, allows an individual over 21 years of age who has passed a criminal background check upon purchase of a firearm to legally carry a handgun concealed without first having to obtain government permission.

On Tuesday, May 18, the Senate Consumer Protection Committee will be meeting online at 10 a.m. and will discuss S.1048A by Sen. Zellnor Myrie. This ill-conceived legislation contends that illegal use of firearms is a public nuisance and attempts to hold manufacturers responsible. Rather than hold criminals accountable, anti-gun Democrat legislators are looking to scapegoat an entire industry and deflect from years of failed New York gun laws that they have authored.

A wide-ranging effort to restructure Louisiana's hunting and fishing licenses and boost fees charged on recreational and commercial license-holders fell two votes short of passage Tuesday in the state House, stalling the proposal. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is pushing the measure by Republican Rep. Tony Bacala to help raise millions more annually for the agency and fill some of its budget gaps. The proposal was initially estimated to raise more than $20 million a year, according to a nonpartisan financial analysis. But lawmakers made several changes on the House floor that would lessen the money raised.

“‘Last Week Tonight’: John Oliver Rips Gun Laws That ‘Exalt A White Person’s Fear Over A Black Person’s Life,’” a Monday Deadline Hollywood promo piece masked as objective news claimed. The laws in question are commonly referred to as “Stand Your Ground,” and per the “woke” kneejerk lynch mob congregating in the “comments” section, anyone who questions the accusation is also racist. “The stand-your-ground law was infamously used in the 2012 George Zimmerman case, in which a community watch shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin,” the report declares. “Zimmerman was successfully exonerated of wrongdoing after lawyers used stand-your-ground in his defense.”
