The Infantry Automatic Rifle: Is this a good idea or not? History clearly has something to say about this idea. I learned a lot of things in the Marine Corps. One thing I learned is that cheating and bending the rules are two different things. Conducting a platoon vs. platoon field op? Well, is it cheating if I go to the headquarters’ tent to ask Gunny for a water jug and snap a photo of the map showing every platoon’s location? Nope, it’s gathering intel. That’s rule-bending.

Many criminals look at senior citizens as easy targets, believing they can rob or attack elderly Americans, whether at home or in public, with little chance of the victim fighting back. Crimes against the elderly at home are particularly common, with the Bureau of Justice Statistics reporting that elderly victims are significantly more likely to be victimized at or near their home than victims under the age of 65.

New guidelines on hunting mountain lions for next five years has disappointed activists who saw it as a chance to make the rules friendlier to mountain lions.

Activists at an April 1 meeting with Game and Fish commissioners sought more restrictions to mountain lion hunting, such as the number of mountain lions that one hunter can kill, requiring a mandatory course for sex identification and a shorter harvesting season. The guidelines cover fall 2023 through spring 2028.

Senator Chuck Grassley has sent a letter to President Biden over Democrats’ refusal to take responsibility for the rising crime rates and blaming law-abiding gun owners. You should know Senator Grassley from the Obama-era Operation Fast & Furious scandal. He is a ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was a key member of Congress that pushed for an investigation into the ATF letting guns flow to the ruthless Mexican drug cartels.

April 9, 1940, is a “date of infamy” in Norwegian history. In the early morning hours of that day, the country was overrun by Hitler’s war machine. The small Norwegian army fought valiantly for three months, but had to capitulate. The Norwegian Krag Jorgensen rifle did a splendid job in the hands of the mountain troops, and German casualties were heavy.

In the late 1980s, a U.S. Special Operations Command survey found more than 100 different close-quarters small arms configurations were fielded by American troops at the time. Benjamin Tyler Henry was not the father of lever-action rifles, but his development of a .44-caliber cartridge—and the lever gun he built to shoot it—did change the platform forever. Only 14,000 of Henry’s original rifles were made, but you will see the unique profile of his gun replicated in many lever-action rifles, particularly those in the Winchester stable of firearms.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. — Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1.
