The .44 Smith & Wesson Special is well over a century old. Although insanely popular in the early 20th century, the Special almost went the way of the dinosaur after the introduction of its faster, harder-hitting, and more popular younger brother, the .44 Remington Magnum. The .44 Spl has been mostly kept alive by custom handloaders and cowboy action shooters. |

Firearms in Greektown, the riverfront, Hart Plaza, and Spirit Plaza would be prohibited under an ordinance going in front of the Detroit City Council Tuesday.
Proposed "gun-free zones" were first floated as a solution to downtown violence that sparked out of Greektown during a busy weekend in Detroit. Six people were shot and two died - including a popular security guard.
Councilmember Mary Waters said the removal of guns would reduce "senseless violence" that often spills over when temperatures go up.
"You're shooting people over what? A place in line? A slice of pizza?" she said. I want to say stop the killing and we're not going to tolerate it."

Disgraced Mayor Lightfoot from Chicago has a message for the Texas Governor. The anti-civil rights politician, the first incumbent Democratic mayor of Chicago to not be reelected to a second term in modern history, has made a real impression on the Windy City. While the citizens of Chicago elected an individual that’s likely to make Lightfoot seem like a law-and-order conservative, that doesn’t mean the current lefty who’s serving as the Mayor of Chicago hasn’t left a lasting impression on the crime-ridden city.

America is the story of freedom. It was settled by those determined to rid themselves of Old World shackles and build something entirely new. Its people rejected servitude to a foreign king across the ocean. It fought a bloody civil war as testament to its founding principles that liberty and equality under the law are human rights irrespective of race. It became home to waves of new immigrants through the centuries who crossed great distances and risked tremendous perils — all to flee the tyrannies behind them and reach America's shores. |

It appears that Walmart has made it very clear that they are against firearm owners and gun rights. According to a recent report by Breitbart, Walmart has been videoing all gun sales in their stores as part of their “Responsible Firearm Sales” policy. Per Walmart’s website, the company will “videotape the point of sale for firearms and only allow certain trained associate[s] to sell firearms.”

At some point in your training journey, you will face a tough decision—keep practicing what you started with, or expand your capabilities. The idea that you should train for an “average” gunfight is common thinking in many circles. With limited time and resources, it sounds like a good idea to focus on what seems to be happening the most. The problem with this thinking, aside from being intellectually lazy, is what happens when you find yourself outside the averages? |

Some may not remember that the Second Amendment was once facing the prospect of extinction. Instead, the right to keep and bear arms is in the midst of a modern renaissance, thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. How we arrived at this moment shows the power of coordinated pro-gun activism. It also points the way to a brighter future for the right to keep and bear arms, but only if we heed the lessons of history and keep up the efforts that have brought us this far.

Unless you live under a rock (and probably a really big one), you have likely heard of Active Self Protection or John Correia. John runs one of the most successful self-defense and firearms-centric YouTube channels that I am aware of. He also teaches classes on the side, basically. Active Self Protection just happened to be a couple of hours down the road from me for one of their pistol classes, and tacked on a 1-day shotgun class following. I am the shotgun guy, so I certainly couldn’t miss that opportunity to see what the YouTube star had to say about shotguns. |

The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), in conjunction with the National Foundation for Gun Rights (NFGR), says the law conflicts with the high court's NYSRPA v. Bruen decision last year, which ruled gun laws must align with constitutional text and history. "We’re thankful the Supreme Court is taking the Second Amendment rights of Illinoisans seriously," Dudley Brown, President of NAGR, told the Washington Examiner. "Any ban on so-called ‘assault weapons’ is plainly unconstitutional, and now it is on the city of Naperville to explain the legal justification for their ban. Of course, there isn’t any. |

As Americans continue to come to terms with the pandemic’s ripple effect on business, unemployment, and snags in the supply chain, one of the bright spots in the economic landscape is the state of the firearm and ammunition industry. Each year, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) publishes a detailed report on the impact of the firearm and ammunition industry on the U.S. economy and jobs. In addition to examining the effect that companies that manufacture, distribute, and sell firearms, ammunition, and hunting equipment have had in the last year, the report looks at trends more generally.

Senate Bill 1230 is the state Legislature’s encompassing gun legislation measure, which would define where concealed carry firearms are not allowed and add new provisions on concealed carry laws. Lawmakers agreed on a statewide measure during conference committee last week, which still needs full House and Senate approval, and Gov. Josh Green’s OK before implementation. |

It will have been one year on June 23 since the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its landmark ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen and ever since, anti-gun Democrats have been acting like the decision never happened.
A state House representative in Olympia, Wash. may have pegged the reason why during an interview with me back in January. His analysis was matter-of-fact, entirely sensible and a little scary. |
