A suspect was detained after a female Kennesaw State University (KSU) student was shot and fatally wounded Saturday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m.

WSBTV reported that a campus wide alert went out at 4:07 warning students, faculty, and staff at the Kennesaw, Georgia, university that there was an intruder on campus and everyone needed to take shelter.

On Saturday Governor Greg Abbott addressed thousands of members of the national rifle association at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. At the convention Governor Abbott told the NRA members in attendance that protecting the second amendment is a top priority in Texas, and that during previous legislative sessions Texas passed more second amendment protections than any other state.

More than 72,000 people applied for a permit to hunt moose in Maine this fall, according to the state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. was the deadline to register online for a chance to land one of 4,105 permits, which will be distributed by lottery drawing in June, said department spokesman Mark Latti. A total of 72,294 applications were received.

The man accused of a shooting at the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade claims it was an act of self-defense and was released by the Spokane Police Department (SPD). The suspect is one of the owners PM Jacoy’s where the shooting happened. The suspect spoke to NonStop Local, revealing that SPD released him after seeing surveillance video of him acting in self-defense. He was held in SPD custody eight to ten hours after being detained.

A man is dead following an incident where it appears he was shot in self-defense. Authorities say the shooting occurred around 9:47 p.m. Friday at a home in the 400 block of South Shamrock Avenue in Monrovia.

Glock's famed old-school long-slide competition version of the G17 has finally been updated to the company's Gen 5 standard. One of the models that has been around since almost the beginning, the first Glock 17L, or "Glong" pistols – so named because they have an extended 6-inch barrel and corresponding 8.9-inch slide rather than the standard model's 4.5/7.3-inch barrel/slide – was introduced as a first-generation gun back in 1988.

The American tradition of home gunsmithing was not specifically codified in the Constitution. Perhaps it should have been. I understand why the Founders left it out. They were practical men, of course, chock-full of common sense.
