Geoff Metcalf interviews historian and author Clayton Cramer about the lies in Michael Bellesiles' book, Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture.
"When you find dozens and dozens ... of sources ... and you find that they don't say what he says ... when you find the text of U.S. laws altered and you find these mistakes all overwhelmingly ... support his claim of a relatively gun-free America, it is difficult to say this is just sloppy." --Clayton Cramer |

Project Exile's premise was simple: Make gun crimes a federal offense and punish criminals with swift prosecutions and stiff sentences.
"To us, gun possession itself is a crime of violence."--Managing Assistant U.S. Attorney James Comey
Nevertheless, this week Bush is expected to announce that he's making Project Exile a model for gun prosecutions in all 50 states and that he's implementing a series of Exile-inspired prosecution initiatives. |

"A junior-high boy who prevented a friend from slitting her wrists by taking away her knife is fighting his automatic suspension from school for possessing a weapon.
Ben Ratner and his mother, Beth Haney, made their appeal to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia last week, saying a lower court erred in dismissing the case."
~How can this be?? I can understand public school officials not having enough intelligence to tell the difference, but the COURT dismissed the case? |

"Rosie O'Donnell has become the poster-girl of liberal hypocrisy. ... when revelations sufraced that she has gun-toting bodyguards, some of whom even escorted her children onto school grounds against regulations, she was simply red-faced."
KABA NOTE: The article then talks about the "poll" that was on her site, www.rosiemagazine.com, where 79% of the answers were pro-gun. |

There are "strong differences of opinion within the trade about what separates acceptable narrative devices from manipulative gimmicks. In recent weeks, area viewers have been treated to a variety of such storytelling techniques", such as a
"report about a man who shot intruders at his Baltimore County store ran a clip from a film about vigilante justice, followed by footage of the reporter pointing a gun at the camera." |

And the 'Understatement Of The Year Award' goes to...
Mr. Paul Craig Roberts, one of the leading writers of truth today, for his quote,
"Our country's premier law-enforcement agency, the FBI, is proving to be an unreliable element in the criminal justice system."
If you have any doubts about this fact now, you won't after you read Roberts' article! |

Get your barf-bag ready.
"Rather than seeing the U.S. Congress as a legislative body, a federal affairs consultant (David Gogol, president of Sagamore Associates, a subsidiary of the law firm Baker & Daniels) said nonprofits should consider it as a large foundation."
Of course, Mr. Gogol failed to mention that all those "foundation funds" are being taken out of YOUR pocket. |

"President Bush's latest gun-safety approach parrots one of the favorite lines of the NRA: We don't need any new laws. Just enforce the existing ones."
~Who'd have thought! Although the article is written by an anti-gunner, I couldn't agree more in this case!
Of course we disagree on *WHY* it is flawed. I say it's because we need to REPEAL the unconstitutional anti-gun laws, NOT ENFORCE THEM, as Bush and the NRA seem to think. |
