The Louisiana Senate overwhelmingly endorsed legislation that will allow people to have firearms in state parks, wildlife management areas and state historic sites.
The Senate voted 36-0 for the measure Senate Bill 534 sponsored by state Sen. Troy Hebert, D-Jeanerette.
“It’s not about hunting in state parks. It’s about an individual’s right to carry a firearm,” said Hebert.
He said 41 states currently allow the practice which is supported by the National Rifle Association.
The bill now heads to the House for debate. -------
