Brady New Jersey smart gun lawsuit demonstrates hypocrisy, anti-choice agenda

... "That makes the hypocrisy of the gun-grabbers all the more glaring. When they resort to demonstrable lies, like 'The NRA wants to ban this gun,' and the Bradys amplify the meme with social media posts quoting articles deceptively claiming the goal is to 'prevent these guns from ever reaching store shelves,' what’s intentionally left unsaid is that the opposition from gun rights advocates is to mandates. Were edicts like the one in New Jersey, that the Bradys are now suing to have imposed, not threatening to take all choice but theirs away, the 'gun lobby' would never seek legislation to prohibit voluntary personalized gun ownership. The legal objections center wholly on gun owner choices being eliminated by diktat." ...

... “'87 percent of firearms seized by Mexican authorities originated in the U.S.,' reads the subhead, and therein is the problem. One must read deeper into the fine print of the release, or go to the press release website (which, curiously, lacks the subhead) to find that it refers to a 2009 Government Accountability Office report that 'showed that 87 percent of the firearms Mexican authorities seized and traced between FY 2004 and FY 2008 originated in the United States.'” ...

"We all know that gun grabbers will twist the truth, spin, and tell outright lies to promote their anti-freedom, anti-life agenda. This has been quaintly obvious for decades, judging by the vast number of myths Guy Smith has had to debunk (http://www.gunfacts.info/) over the years. If you haven't seen Mr. Smith's ever-growing e-book exposing some of the most prevalent lies perpetuated by hoplophobes over the years, you should check it out. It's illuminating."

"A few days ago, Mother Jones ran an article detailing the atrocious behavior of 'gun bullies' who reportedly spat on a woman in a wheelchair after seeing her on TV speaking in favor of gun control. It was the perfect story to illustrate just how vile and despicable these evil gun owners were, that they would spit on a woman. In a wheel chair. And that no one would help her. It evokes strong emotions — anger, hatred, and a desire to help this poor woman. In other words, it’s the perfect anti-gun propaganda piece. There’s just one problem: it never happened . . ." ...

"For almost 20 years, a huge anti-gun billboard near Boston’s Fenway Park has exploited firearms-related deaths, including accidents and suicides, in a battle against so-called 'gun violence,' but today’s Boston Globe revealed that the iconic gun control symbol will either move or disappear by next March."

"It could be summed up in the words of an old political axiom: 'Money talks and B.S. walks.' "SIG SAUER has introduced their own line of ammunition, accompanied by some substantial promises in a marketing video. Maybe I geek out a bit too much on stuff like this, but — when a big-name company like SIG introduces a brand new design, guaranteeing that it’ll live up to the SIG SAUER name, it really grabs my attention. Especially since SIG says that their ammo has been designed specifically for personal defense. Thanks to the generous support of Texas’ own AmmoToGo.com, I was able to get ahold of two different calibers for testing. Since my recent testing has focused on finding suitable ammo for short-barreled concealed carry weapons, I very optimistically proceeded to put the ammo through two different tests . . ." ...

"'It’s hard to classify the Remington R51 as anything other than the best new compact 9 mm handgun on the market.' That’s the official word from Richard Mann, reviewing the R51 in Shooting Illustrated magazine’s June edition. The seven-page review (eight including the cover ...) has nothing but glowing reports of Remington’s new handgun — there [is] nothing but unbridled enthusiasm for the firearm. Par for the course in terms of the established print magazines, but the vast disparity between the R51 as presented in the article and the Hindenberg re-enactment that it’s been shown to be has highlighted the continuing decline of journalistic integrity that reigns in the dead tree gun mag world . . ." ...

"People who carry a gun are different from people who don’t carry a gun. They’re prepared to defend their life, the lives of their loved ones or innocent life with lethal force. Make that better prepared. I reckon most people will fight for their life and the lives of their loved ones with whatever tools are available, should the need arise. Most, but not all. Some people have one defense in a life-or-death situation: passivity. The question is, why would either of these non-gun carrying groups want to disarm people who are prepared for a violent worst-case scenario? Let’s have a look at an example . . ." ...

There’s been a lot of coverage of college students that defend themselves with firearms ... North Dakota State University [NDSU] is a very conservative state, and has a lot of love for firearms, but their ideas of personal liberty are not as expansive as might first seem apparent. ... "It's a topic that has been coming up with some frequency of late, as more and more police departments obtain heavily armored vehicles from the military ... These huge, lumbering, greenhouse-gas-spewing ... behemoths may not hold much interest for the few remaining cops who think of themselves as 'peace officers,' but they sure excite the heck out of the inexorably growing number of 'Only Ones' who fancy themselves as 'operators.'"

"The law enforcement 'need' for vehicles designed for combat operations in some of the most dangerous war zones on Earth (and aren't we supposed to be outraged about 'weapons of war' on our streets'?) has seen numerous dubious justifications, but we occasionally see an especially disturbing one. ..." ...

... "... officers described Bin-Wahad’s behavior as 'uncooperative and verbally argumentative.' He was accused of taking 'a bladed stance with his right side of his body' and allegedly refused to sit down when ordered to do so by them."

"'When I came out of the house, the first thing I said was that 'I’m moving in. I have the key,' Bin-Wahad said on Monday. ..."

"The footage, which does not contain audio, shows Bin-Wahad eventually sitting down and making no aggressive motions toward the officers before being grabbed by the arm, dragged to the ground and handcuffed. The police report indicates that Bin-Wahad’s head and left shoulder hit a brick wall. The video eventually showed officials leave the scene without arresting Bin-Wahad." ...

"Detroit Police Chief James Craig had to explain his stance on citizens’ packing firearms after his views landed him on the cover of a gun rights publication put out by the National Rifle Association."

In January, he told the Detroit News, 'We’re not advocating violence; we’re advocates of not being victims. We’re advocates of self-protection. We want people to be safe.'"

"Craig’s stance on gun laws was the focus of a recent cover story in America’s 1st Freedom magazine ..." ...

"There will be no contentious hearing in Salem tonight on a proposal to open a gun shop in a neighborhood on the edge of downtown."

"For that, you can thank both community activists who were quick to mobilize and the businessman who, facing widespread opposition, opted to withdraw, saying he’d never intended to alarm the neighbors."

"Michael Beaulieu, a Salem businessman and former resident, ... had applied for a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals to sell guns from a commercial building he owns on Margin Street, in the city’s old Italian neighborhood. It’s a neighborhood with a mix of uses, commercial and residential, not far from the police station."

"But neighbors — quite rightly, in our view — were dismayed." ...

"Gun owners are passionate about their guns, and there’s nothing wrong with that – but wouldn’t it be refreshing if they were just as passionate about reducing all the needless deaths caused by gun violence every single year?"

"Unfortunately, the gun lobby only ever seems to have one perpetual solution to the problem: more guns."

"Truth is, there are still lots of sensible things we should be doing – criminal background checks on gun owners and gun shop employees, limits on excessive ammo clips, mandating that gun-owners tell the police when their gun is stolen, closing the gun show loophole that allows even the mental ill to buy guns, etc." ...
