We were so pleased with what ROBAR did with our personal Glocks (see Project ROBAR in our April/May Defensive Handguns issue), we decided to ship them a couple of our ARs to play with—one of mine and one owned by editor Ben Battles. ROBAR offers a variety of coating technologies that not only will keep your gun looking great (chicks dig that!), but also will reduce or eliminate the high cost of parts replacement and maintenance, and the time spent cleaning. So we scrolled through ROBAR’s list of coatings, chose our colors and sent the two guns off to Arizona to be transformed in ROBAR’s state-of-the-art facility. |

Mike Vanderboegh is a smuggler. With a difference. Joe Average smuggler hopes government officials won’t notice what he’s up to. Mike, on the other hand, wants them to notice. In fact, he smuggles some of his goods right into their offices. If you hang around the gun-rights movement, you probably know Mike, at least by reputation. He blogs at Sipsey Street Irregulars. He’s the founder and rabble-rouser-in-chief of the Three Percent movement. (“Threepers” being the small but powerful portion of the citizenry who will eventually be willing and able to shoot tyrants.) With his friend David Codrea and brave whistleblowers, he was responsible for bringing the ATF’s Fast & Furious “gunwalking” scandal to light.

While in one part of southern California students were recently asked to debate if the Holocaust had ever happened, in nearby Los Angeles an advocacy group for children of Holocaust survivors is trying in its own unique way to ensure that a genocide of the Jews will never again occur by training its members in the use of firearms for self-defense. The group, Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, last week hosted the gun instruction course in which they learned from a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officer who taught them the basics of safe firearm handling and shooting. |
Double standard when women attack men

One is wary, as a man, of calling out double standards between the sexes. In the first place, men benefit from more double standards than we have space to count. In the second place, it would be specious to pretend the physical abuse of men by women is a problem anywhere near as ubiquitous as the physical abuse of women by men.
That said, it's hard to let this go without at least acknowledging this other double standard — and Solange's exploitation thereof.
Too bad police didn't raise the specter of an investigation, even if only to have it batted down. Might not have been the worst thing in the world if Jay Z's heavy-handed in-law had to at least momentarily contemplate explaining herself to a judge. |

In a controversy pitting a fabulously wealthy, nanny-stater, anti-gun rights liberal versus conservative middle- and working-class gun-owning Americans, you can bet on Jon Stewart siding with the former over the latter.
Reacting to the news that Chipotle is requesting – at the urging of Mike Bloomberg – that their patrons not carry weapons in their stores, Stewart devoted a segment of his May 20 Daily Show to lambasting everyday Americans who own guns and who might have heretofore legally taken their guns into a local Chipotle. Naturally Stewart crudely caricatured the viewpoint of such Americans, perhaps thinking none of them watch his show anyway (MP3 audio here; video below): |

I read with great interest the former Marine and firearms instructor’s editorial summary of a need for “solid intelligence sharing and common sense regulation” and his appeal for “Common Sense Gun Control”.
That sentence carries a great deal of truth, yet I differ with his conclusion. His example of the eleven year old child who was shot by his uncle by accident is the prime example of where I believe this plan for ‘gun control’ should begin. |

Over one-third of Americans own guns. These firearms are used for many different things, such as protection, subsistence living and recreation. Recently, there have been many people trying to enforce gun control, which could possibly interfere with these uses. Americans need to protect their right to keep and bear arms.
Guns are a form of protection, and many people can vouch that guns have saved their lives in a dangerous situation. One woman tells a story about an attempted break in she experienced: "If I had not had a weapon (a shotgun she had) and had not been shown how to use it, he (the man attempting to break in) would have gotten into my house." |

The latest insult to the American people is the just announced pressure on banks not to financially support the 100 percent legal activity of the sale of guns and ammo at the mail-order and retail level.
The Second Amendment is no more up for debate than the First or the Fifth or any other amendments. It is, by definition, settled law. |

Prosecutors argued his bail should be raised to $500,000, but District Judge Ed McLean didn’t agree, leaving Kaarma free on his current, lesser bail. His attorney denies he was out to get anyone, saying Kaarma is now virtually a prisoner in his own home, afraid to go outside.
“There’s been some death threats,” Ryan said. “Certainly he’s uneasy being in his own house.”
Even if Kaarma is cleared in the case, his troubles may not be over. German authorities have now submitted a letter saying they are watching closely and could pursue a case of their own. |

What Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, a Republican and a lawyer, has discovered is that the amendment includes a confusing rewrite of the castle doctrine, now enshrined in state law as part of the 2005 "stand your ground" law. Current law gives an individual in his home the right to use deadly force if he "reasonably believes it is necessary to do so" to prevent death, great bodily harm or commission of a forcible felony. But HB 89 appears to change that standard so that force is only justified if the individual believes there is an "imminent" threat of death, great bodily harm or commission of a forcible felony — the same standard that now applies to self-defense cases that occur outside a person's domicile. |

A handful of area residents told the Skokie Village Board May 17 that they support proposed regulations regarding gun ranges and gun sellers.
Among its key stipulations, the proposed ordinance, presented on first reading Monday, would allow for the sale of firearms only by those who operate gun ranges in the village.
“It is in the best interest of residents and the village as a whole to make available and encourage adequate training in the use of firearms when they are purchased by residents,” said Corporation Counsel Michael Lorge. “To that end, the village seeks to establish that the sale of firearms only occur within a facility that has a firearms range.”

When I launched Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, I understood I would encounter opposition from those who took issue with my view – the same held by most gun owners – that firearm safety and responsibility go hand-in-hand with our Second Amendment rights.
I knew that sometimes these debates would get heated. In fact, I’ve always welcomed and embraced debate. That said, I’ve also always vowed to remain civil and to avoid cruel, ad hominem attacks in my work as a gun violence prevention advocate. |

The U.S. Ninth Circuit of Appeals struck down the requirement that California residents had to prove “good cause” in order to obtain a concealed carry firearms license.
Now it’s a question of what happens next.
“There is an epic battle going on right now for the future of the Second Amendment,” says Civil Rights Attorney Chuck Michel. And this could very well be the next major Second Amendment case to go before the Supreme Court. |
