"'Three gun-grabbing Washington, D.C. public officials are standing in the way of progressive reform of the city's anti-self defense laws and should resign,' John Michael Snyder, Public Affairs Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), said here today."

"'These three, Mayor Anthony Williams, Police Chief Charles Ramsey, and Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton,' he continued, 'constitute an anti-right to self-defense triumvirate of tyranny. Their opposition to elimination of local law prohibiting the acquisition of handguns by law-abiding citizens, even in their own homes, for self-defense against ruthless, violent criminals makes a mockery of the citizens' right to life itself. ...'" ...

"Richard Patrick Celata is an old-fashioned Yankee toolmaker who came into his profession the old-fashioned way: as an apprentice under his father. A resident of Massachusetts, he watched the erosion of the Bill of Rights and decided to do something about it. Specifically, he decided to devote his skills to guarantee the continuation of the Second Amendment."

"Through his company KT Ordnance, Celata now produces incomplete (80% finished) frames made according to the highest standards of repeatable CNC precision. Not only are these frames built according to the numbers, but they are easy for the average person to finish."

"Violence. Conflict. As if these were useless and undesirable societal dynamics."

"As a matter of fact, without them, we would be stomped by those who use coercion as an everyday tool to get their way. Perhaps that's why there's a worldwide movement to discourage resistance to issues in general. It's made its way here, and we're feeling it big time. One of the pressure tactics we're experiencing is disinformation in both facts and attitude, and this one comes from The Brady Bunch in the news again lately."

"Since the attempt on the life of President Reagan, where James Brady was shot also and suffered permanent brain injury, Sarah and James Brady have devoted their lives to the elimination of handguns, and in so doing, they seek to destroy Liberty for all. ..." ...

Local law was no help; the sheriff was in cahoots with the murderous gangs. Finally, honest miners formed a 'vigilance committee' that seized and strung up 30-odd suspected bad guys, including the sheriff. ..." ...

"The Times article is quite descriptive of how a dentist fell into an argument with two tree trimmers over payment they demanded and ended up pulling a gun, demanding they leave his property. He may be charged with aggressive assault. The Tampa Tribune reported the same day that a Pasco County worker from the Hazardous Material Facility was arrested because of a road rage incident where he stopped in front of a car and confronted the driver, with whom he apparently was having a dispute, with a gun. He too may be charged with aggravated assault."

"Such is the political clout wielded by the gun lobby, the soonest gun law reformers can expect to take two steps forward without taking one or two steps back may be the 12th of Never. At least that's the way it must look to Gov. Blagojevich after the Illinois House approved a bill that would close the 'gun show loophole' -- something he and Mayor Daley badly want to do -- but as part of a costly trade-off."

"That trade-off, as provided for in another component of the bill, would be the elimination of the State Police database of gun sales. Gun lobbyists claim it is improperly used to harass lawful gun owners. Denying any misuse, law enforcement officials say the database is crucial to their efforts to track straw purchases and gun trafficking -- and to protect themselves by knowing which suspects are likely to be armed." ...

"BECAUSE THE District bans handguns, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) complains that she had to dismantle her weapon when she came to town. She said that at home in Texas, 'I had always had a handgun in the drawer next to my bed.' That may be, but it doesn't give Mrs. Hutchison a legitimate cause to propose a repeal of the city's wise law, given the strong opposition of District leaders and residents to the idea of keeping guns in their homes. Yet Mrs. Hutchison, joined by fellow Republicans George Allen (Va.) and John Cornyn (Tex.), has sponsored a wrongheaded bill to kill D.C. gun laws." ...

"Many District residents also know, as the Brady campaign reports, that a gun in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in an unintentional shooting than in self-defense; that nearly all childhood unintentional shooting deaths occur in and around the home; and that a gun in the home is 11 times more likely to be used in an attempted suicide than to injure or kill in self-defense." ...

"It was not long after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that Elwin D. Barton got a call from Wackenhut Corp., asking to use the Leyden Rifle Club range to train security personnel from the Vermont Yankee nuclear power station."

"Barton had to think about the request for a while, because it was a big one for a quiet range set aside in 1946 in a remote location on the forested border of Vermont. An overwhelming sense of obligation to improve national security, however, moved the club's 125 members to approve the request, Barton said recently in an interview."
