Jonathan Mossberg has already made a smart gun -- a shotgun that can only be discharged by someone wearing a ring that communicates with a chip inside the weapon, unlocking it. The gunmaker's smart guns, there are about 25 of them, are nearly 20 years old. They have been tested repeatedly and kept in the homes of his friends and family for self-defense. But Mossberg's Florida-based company, iGun Technology Corp., has never scaled the high-tech components to a handgun. And cultural and political barriers have stood in the way of selling the guns commercially.

David Schmees (Your Views, May 13) makes some valid points. Passage of this bill would be a law enforcement nightmare. I'm a gun owner and possess a valid concealed carry permit. There are times that I do carry a concealed handgun.

No criminal charges will be filed against Michelle Moore in the Aug. 26 shooting death of her estranged husband, Biloxi firefighter Richard Lewis "Ricky" Moore, 45. "The grand jury considered the facts of this case, and one issue was self-defense," District Attorney Tony Lawrence said. "Their decision to issue a no true bill means they found that there was not sufficient proof of criminal wrongdoing."

Rand Paul was a speaker at the NRA-ILA Forum in Louisville, Kentucky, calling for the defense of the Bill of Rights, but focusing on the 2nd Amendment. Paul highlighted how conservatives have won several legal victories when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, but warns that there is still considerable opposition. But, as always, Paul reminded the crowd that you cannot defend just one of the amendments...

Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions said the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms would become nearly extinct if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency. Remember 3D printing? It was supposed to be massive by now. The technology would improve so quickly, and prices would fall so sharply, that we'd soon be sitting around printing guns, pirate copies of cars and extra legs. But we don't all have 3D printers churning out all manner of household goods, and there aren't plentiful websites giving us blueprints to make the things we need. However, 3D printing is changing the world – it's just doing it in places you might not expect.following 4 things.

As America's greatest champion of personal freedom, the NRA always draws a crowd to its family-friendly events, but perhaps no act was more befitting than last night's "NRA Presents Toby Keith" concert celebrating our Second Amendment freedom—and our troops—at the KFC Yum! Center Arena. And the date happened to be May 21—Armed Forces Day—as the freedom-loving country music superstar hit the stage for an epic night of live entertainment during the 145th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits, May 20-22.

It was full-on tough - sometimes crude - talk from rocker Ted Nugent on Sunday in Freedom Hall. In addition to carrying the Donald J. Trump banner, the hunting and gun advocate who was introduced as The Great White Buffalo after a song of his by the same name, tossed out insults and swear words in a rambling speech that lasted more than hour.

Harriet Tubman will soon be gracing our twenty dollar bill. Most of us know only one image of her. It's an iconic image taken later in her life in which her hair's covered in a dark cloth and she has a stern expression. But there are other images of Harriet Tubman as well, including a wood cut of her carrying a musket.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States....Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America — Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789.
