What does Ted Nugent have in common with FBI agents? What about Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice and the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police department? If you guessed a 10mm Auto handgun, you’re right! Designed by Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Cooper in 1983 to replace the .45 ACP as the perfect combat pistol, the 10mm has a flatter trajectory, transfers energy better from bullet to target, and holds its accuracy at a greater range than the .45 Auto.

As anyone who has an elementary school level education understands, our Founders established our federal government to have three branches—the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary—each designed with their own duties, and also designed to act as a check on the others from trying to assert too much power. In a fairly simplistic breakdown, Congress determines what laws should be in place, the President makes sure the laws are put into place and enforced, and the Supreme Court determines if the laws comport with the US Constitution. |

“History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme.” I was reminded of that wonderful quote from Mark Twain while looking over the new CSX from Smith & Wesson. Since the turn of the century, nearly every new pistol design meant for concealed carry has been a striker-fired model with a polymer frame. It is almost impossible to find a handgun with a new design that has a frame made out of anything other than polymer. |

After Michigan Democrats outlined their vision for gun control in the state with newly passed laws, Senate Republicans have recently introduced their own firearm proposals.
The GOP legislation would repeal sections of Michigan law that makes it a felony to carry a concealed firearm without a concealed pistol license, otherwise known as “constitutional carry.”
Lead bill sponsor Lana Theis, R-Brighton, said in a press release that the legislation would remove a barrier for Michigan residents so they are better able protect themselves in case of emergency.

Colorado moms say what's being done to address gun violence is not enough. The organization Here 4 The Kids is calling on Gov. Jared Polis to ban guns and create a buy-back program. "Denver is our Selma," said Here 4 The Kids co-founder Saira Rao. In two weeks, they hope the steps of Colorado's state Capitol steps will be occupied by more than 25,000 white women. They say they're prepared to stay for days.

In a recent development concerning the Second Amendment, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, Illinois, has issued a significant order in the now-enjoined cases against the Illinois “assault” weapons ban and large-capacity magazines. This is a significant moment for firearm rights advocates nationwide, potentially setting a significant precedent in the gun control debate. Mark Smith, a Constitutional attorney and member of the United States Supreme Court bar, covered this story in depth in a video embedded above. |

Many teens who died by firearm suicide grew up in gun-owning families, according to a small psychological autopsy study. Interviews with family members of nine teens who died by firearm suicide showed that 89% of decedents had prior family engagement with firearms or the family considered itself to be engaged in firearm culture, said Paul Nestadt, MD, co-director of the Johns Hopkins Anxiety Disorders Clinic in Baltimore. |

Democrats have made the most noise this week, and we asked them about plans for the next legislative session. Gun control was a hot topic during the session this year, but not many of the bills introduced became law. While the governor signed the Bennie Hargrove Act, both the assault weapon ban and the 14-day waiting period died in committee. Now the governor is re-upping those calls. |

To the casual observer, the M1 Garand and the M14 share similarities yet are very different rifles. However, both came from the fertile mind of one man. The story starts almost 100 years ago. In the 1920s, a Canadian-born fellow named John C. Garand signed on with the government’s Springfield Armory. With the combat of World War I fresh in the minds of United States Army Ordnance Department officers, a program was started to develop a viable semi-auto rifle for American infantry troops. Mr. Garand was assigned the project. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston |
