"During his confirmation, Ashcroft said he supported the right to bear arms for citizens but added, 'I don't believe the Second Amendment to be one that forbids any regulation of guns.' He said he supports child safety locks and a ban on assault weapons."
"officials said ... that Ashcroft thinks the 1994 law is a reasonable restraint on Second Amendment rights." |

"The liberals thought they could force the world to be good. They thought they could dictate the standards by which we would all we have to live. In doing so, they tried to ignore two emerging and essential facts of the last and this new century; individual freedom and national cultural differences. Instead of making us all the same to live in harmony, they succeeded in creating greater misunderstanding and hatreds. People resist -as they should — being stripped of their national identity and history. The result is fear and mistrust."--Tom DeWeese |

"If you think it angers a veteran to tell him he can’t fly the American flag, try telling him he can’t carry a firearm. That’s what Deep Gap Properties is telling a Hurricane Road resident. Robert McClure Jr. was informed by a civil summons Saturday that the company that imposes restrictions on his property will ask a court to prohibit him from carrying his firearm on his property because the company deems it “noxious activity”."
--Expecting a veteran to not only remove his flag but not to carry his gun if he so chooses is not very bright. This land developer is attempting to use a deed restriction to do just that. And the homeowner, like any red-blooded American, is rightly telling them to go straight to Hell. I invested over half an hour attempting to find the contact information for "Deep Gap Properties" and came up with zip. Sure would love to rip that fool a new one. |

Does the Aquinnah Wampanoag's sovereignty cover an independent armed tribal police force?
"An issue has arisen as to whether rangers of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) are entitled to carry exposed defensive weapons, and the related question whether, under Massachusetts law, those rangers are required to receive a firearms permit from the Aquinnah Chief of Police." |

"An unlikely bunch of Wake County, NC, residents reached consensus Tuesday on how to regulate shooting and make Wake a "safer" place to live. ... the committee is recommending that commissioners change the law to prohibit shooting within 100 yards of a dwelling."
KABA NOTE: That's all very sweet, until one of those residents is forced to break that law by defending himself or his family with a firearm near someone else's home. |

A Florida honor student who's never been in trouble before won't be taking part in graduation ceremonies next week. She's been arrested and suspended for having a knife in her car at school, and charged with felony possession of a weapon on school grounds.
The girl's parents say it's a case of political correctness gone nuts. They say she didn't even know the kitchen knife was in the car. They say it apparently became wedged under a passenger seat during a weekend move.
But police say state law is very specific and they had no choice but to make the arrest after spotting the knife. |

"A JUDGE formally cleared three police commanders of misconduct yesterday after a naked and unarmed suspect was shot dead during a bungled raid.
After the hearing Brian Jackson, the solicitor acting for Mr. Ashley's two children, said the collapse of the case did not exonerate the police. He said "Those close to James Ashley find it hard to understand why the fact that an unarmed and naked man was shot and killed by police officers was regarded as irrelevant in this case." |
