... "I’m asking the regular readership to support their entries for several reasons, the most important being to encourage even more programming that presents firearms and associated rights in a positive light–with the preponderance of so much hostile televised media, consider this one more critical front that informed citizens must man. ... every bit of positive sentiment we can introduce into the public forum is important, individually and for a cumulative effect." ...

"Babbs: How did you come to set up this blog and hey, I love the name … what inspired that?"

"Packing Pretty: What inspired me to start Packing Pretty was my desire to share what I know with other women. When I started getting into shooting and concealed carry, I noticed that although there were a good handful of girls’ gun blogs on the Internet, there weren’t many that got down and dirty discussing the more tactical approach to shooting and personal protection for women. When I became an instructor and started shooting competitively, I decided that it was time to establish my own blog." ...

"TTAG has never shied away from a simple truth about armed self-defense: a gun fight is a fight with a gun. In other words, it’s not so much about the gun as much as it is about the fight. It’s entirely possible an armed defender won’t be able to get their gun into the fight. Their firearm may fail (most probably through adrenalin-induced operator error). They may not be able to get a clear shot. Or miss. Or get shot first. ... The standard Karate Kid response to this shit happens truth about gunfights: you must have an indomitable spirit! Keep fighting no matter what! OK, sure. So, how do you get one of them indomitable spirit things then? It’s easier than you think. Start with this . . ." ...

"When a company calls its products 'Perfection,' boldly proclaims itself to be America's Gun (as if we have only one) and outsells every other marque of polymer-frame pistols, it had better be prepared for challenges to its market dominance. Enter the Caracal-C, a plastic 9mm manufactured in the UAE and Germany. The pistol is cleverly named after a desert feline with ears as long as a mother-in-law's memory. The Caracal clearly has the Glock 19 in its very odd sights, but the question must be asked: is the Caracal a pussycat, or should the manufacturer pound sand?" ...

"With several rimfire related reviews coming up in the near weeks, I thought I’d throw out a few thoughts about the fast dying art of 'PLINKING.' The word 'plinking' is often (or WAS often) used in shooting circles to describe a practice most often done with rimfire guns. When I was growing up with a .22 or often times an air rifle or pistol in my hand, I would set out with a pocket full of ammo and 'plink' to my heart’s delight. If you’r ever in a gun shop and hear someone use a phrase like 'It’s a fun little plinker' they’re most likely talking about their favorite rimfire used for the practice of plinking." ...

"The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) seems to have it out for our military. The department is using the city’s pointless firearm registration mandate to harass, arrest and jail servicemen."

"Army 1st Sergeant Matt Corrigan was woken in the middle of the night, forced out of his home, arrested, had his home ransacked, had his guns seized and was thrown in jail -- where he was lost in the prison system for two weeks -- all because the District refuses to recognize the meaning of the Second Amendment. This week, the city dropped all charges ..."

"Armed Intelligentsia member Tommy Knocker asks:"
"I was watching the news today and I see how witnesses to the Trayvon shooting are starting to change their story. Soooo….got to thinking…..As the cardinal rule for DGU situations is to STFU, is it necessary for eye witnesses to also STFU? Being a witness to a major crime and having your name and story circulate in the news media can be detrimental to your health. It can be detrimental to your immediate family. Nothing like having some angry guys hunting you down cause you said something in court."

"... I suspect that this effect may be at work in the Trayvon case now. I would like to hear what you folks think about this." ...

"Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. The New York Daily News is all aflutter over word that the fiscally challenged state of New York has given grants totaling about $6 million to Remington and Kimber. And their outrage seems to be based on the fact that both gunmakers are ardent opponents of Andy Cuomo’s ludicrous microstamping proposal (their distaste for the merchants of death goes without saying). The thinking, apparently, is that any company that opposes 'meaningful gun control' should be ineligible to receive public funds. Just like the proverbial stopped clock, the News is right to be up in arms. But it’s for all the wrong reasons . . ." ...

"This small community in the forested, western foothills of the Rocky Mountains was created as a company town to house workers for the nation's largest white pine sawmill, and its tidy homes and straight, tree-lined streets are a testament to its planners."

"The move by PNW Arms was like a signal flare to business and political leaders ..." ...
