Constitutional Carry, in the form of HB1927, is coming close to passage in the Texas legislature. Constitutional Carry has been pushed for several years in Texas, only to be held back by a combination of Democrats and a few Republicans. 2021 is different. One of the big differences is the sheer number of states which have restored the right to carry a handgun in most public places without special permission from the government. Earlier in 2021, four states restored Constitutional Carry, joining 16 others already in the Constitutional Carry club. |

Loyal Ammoland readers who remember history may have heard of the Virginia Plan presented before the Constitutional Convention in 1787. The convention threw a number of its key provisions out, but they salvaged a few items for the Constitution that has worked since 1789. So, Second Amendment supporters should feel particularly insulted that Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia is now hijacking something that was part of building the Constitution that protects our rights to attack them instead, with a large side of the injustice of punishing people for crimes they did not commit.

Every great carry gun deserves a great holster … or two. I’ll admit to being a bit of a holster snob myself. Each of my carry guns has a few different holster options because my carry needs differ depending on where I’m going and what I’m wearing. Having a properly fitted holster isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity if you want to carry a firearm safely and confidently. When buying a holster, there are a few important boxes you need to make sure you are checking along the way.

The FN 509 series of pistols are such awesome handguns that it makes me wonder why we don’t see them in everyone’s hands when we go to the range? I recently borrowed an FN 509 Tactical for two months and I absolutely loved it. You could feel the quality, the controls were all perfectly placed, it was a joy to shoot, and it was 100 percent dependable after 250 rounds.

But instead of a toy gun, it was an AK-47 and multiple shots rang out from the apartment, police said. Thallas, 21, was killed and Simon was injured in a random shooting that rocked the city.
Nearly a year later, there’s another wrinkle: The rifle used to kill Thallas and injure Simon was a personal firearm of a Denver police officer who was a longtime friend of the suspect.
Submitter's note: Why did they hide the fact that it was stolen from a LEO for a year?

Business Insider has joined the chorus of news agencies confirming what gun owners and the industry has known for months: the COVID-19 pandemic panic has resulted in skyrocketing gun and ammunition sales.
CBS News reported earlier in the week that, “Gun stores nationwide are seeing an increase in customers. The FBI said there were almost 16 million background checks for firearm purchases from January through last month. That’s a 31% increase compared to the same time last year.”

“It can’t happen here” is a political cliche in the United States. Regardless of your personal viewpoint, there is a vast swath of the American population who simply do not believe in the possibility of any kind of totalitarianism in the United States.
It’s worth noting that throughout history, in virtually every place that totalitarian regimes have arisen, the residents of these countries felt the same way. Russia was seen as too traditional and backward, the power of the Czar too entrenched to be defeated. Germany had been viewed throughout most of the modern period as the home of Goethe, Schiller, and Mozart, a place where the local Jewish population had largely assimilated.

The solid copper hollow point bullet (SCHP) can be used in both rifle and pistol ammunition. All-copper pistol bullets have the familiar large hollow opening at the end, but rifle versions have a wider range of options. The different types of rifle ammo are for different sized game, and the hollow point in copper can expand in a variety of useful ways, depending on the intended target. A deer-hunting ammo, for example, will be much different than a varmint ammo.

A bill to put teeth in trespass laws involving possession of firearms in resorts was approved on a party-line vote Saturday. SB452 was passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee despite resounding opposition between groups that are normally on opposite sides. Police unions joined the National Rifle Association, the ACLU, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada and a number of Democratic lawmakers in opposing it. Resorts already have the power to ask any customer to leave but they are required to give the individual a verbal warning before calling police. |

Arkansas hunters harvested and checked 7,010 eastern wild turkeys during the 2021 turkey season, which concluded May 9. While the harvest showed a similar decrease to that of surrounding states, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists are hopeful for the future. “We did expect to see a decline in checked birds this year,” Jeremy Wood, AGFC Turkey Program coordinator, says. “With conservative season dates and new regulations in place to spread hunting pressure, we tried to give turkeys as much of a chance as we could to breed and create future hunting opportunities while maintaining a reasonably good hunting experience. We have to think about the resource first if we want to see the population increase.” |
