"I've been compiling 'testimonials' from Santa Barbara area gun owners concerning their attempts to contact NRA about their A rating and endorsement of anti-gun Sheriff Bill Brown. ..."

"This will be a long post, but I think you'll get the gist pretty quickly. ..." ...

"It's evident the powers that be are hoping this will go away. Too bad."

"It can't--not until the political 'experts' come clean with why they misled their members on Brown's stance on their right to keep and bear arms, and come up with some ... credibility on future ratings and endorsements."

"One thing is for sure--ignoring all these requests is no way to endear grassroots supporters to an organization that purports to represent their interests." ...

... "The dead horse on the living room floor. It's there all right and we are most certainly aware of its presence, yet we pretend that it doesn't exist. ... We hide from the truth. It might belie our self opinion, our perception of the world around us, it might make us think, change our minds."

"Well? There's a dead horse on the living room floor. At least when we think of school security, and the possibility of some nut case coming in and shooting up the place, and the people inside. We are loathe to discuss the dead horse because we don't want to contemplate the fact that we would have to do something tangible about it. So we simply tiptoe over it and try to ignore its presence. And we pray that others will do the same." ...

"I don't believe I've ever agreed with Jack LeMoult. I've never disagreed with him more than the column, Guns and Masculinity. He puts forth more of the same arguments that have been made time and again. 'Blood will run in the streets' or 'Dodge City all over again' is the rallying cry. It is always the gun control movement's answer. It is always wrong. It was heard in the 1980s when Florida first passed concealed carry. It was heard in every state that followed including Ohio in 2004. And in every instance it has been a lie." ...

"On April 19, 1775, the town of Concord, Massachusetts was the scene of an interesting confrontation. ... The wife of Nathan Barrett, captain of one of Concord's militia companies, spotted one of her husband's men skedaddling home. She went out of her house to confront him, and when he explained that he was feeling ill, she responded that he must not take his gun with him. When he replied simply, 'Yes, I shall,' she exclaimed, 'No, stop, I must have it.' ..."

... "Weeks after the Virginia Tech massacre the country is still in shock about the heinous act ... Questions are still arising but not as many answers, I would say appropriate answers, are forth coming. Among the many questions asked is the one as to whether or not it's time to introduce more severe gun control or to simply repeal the second amendment to the constitution with regard to the right to bear firearms. The Second Amendment Foundation ... affirms that the Virginia Tech massacre underscores the importance of the second amendment right. Indeed, Alan Gottlieb, founder of SAF, hypothesizes that if there had been an armed student or teacher, maybe Cho would have been stopped at some point during his rampage. ... ..." ...

In New York, critics disagree about whether school crime is going up or down. It was show-and-tell, sort of, at a Queens elementary school Thursday.

A 7-year-old boy brought an unloaded .38 caliber handgun to PS 63 in Ozone Park, authorities said. Apparently, another student saw the gun and alerted a teacher -- who took the weapon from the boy.

Police were questioning the boy's mother and 14-year-old brother at the 106th precinct.
