"The right to keep and bear arms is black and white. Any politician who attempts to convince you otherwise is a petty tyrant who does not deserve your vote. Any politician who attempts to tell you how, when, where and under what circumstances you can exercise your Second Amendment rights either has no understanding of the right to keep and bear arms or no respect for it."
"Either choice is unacceptable." ...
"The time has come to support a candidate who will respect your rights as absolute – not as privileges to be granted by the government and taken away at whim."

"John Kerry owns a shotgun and a rifle, has taken time from the campaign trail to go hunting and relied on firearms during the Vietnam War. But the Democratic presidential candidate's fondness for his guns will not save him from a political assault by the NRA."
"The 4 million-strong NRA could be an obstacle in Kerry's bid for the presidency, not simply because of the size of its membership but because of the significance of the states where those people live. About one-fourth of NRA members live in West Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Missouri and Pennsylvania — all battleground states with 101 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency." ...
"The NRA says it doesn't matter how many guns the Massachusetts senator owns or how often he hunts because he nearly always votes against gun rights in the Senate. Kerry supports extending the ban on assault-type weapons and requiring background checks at gun shows. He opposes granting gun makers immunity from civil lawsuits."
------- Of course, if the NRA had any actual principles, they would endorse a Libertarian candidate! |

... "Whether the subject is concealed handgun laws or bans on semi-automatic so-called 'assault weapons,' gun control debates have been filled with apocalyptic claims about what will happen if gun control is not adopted. One common prediction is that laws allowing the carrying of a concealed weapon will result in crime waves, or permit holders shooting others. However, with 37 states now having right-to-carry laws, and another nine states letting some citizens carry, permit holders have continually shown themselves to be extremely law-abiding. It is becoming more and more difficult to attack those laws." ... |

"In a remarkable speech in October, which I missed at the time but the transcript of which I recently ran across, U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor told a 'Guns, God and Guts' conference that a Democrat can compete in the South if he's gun-loving and deeply religious. More to the point, Pryor said a candidate needs to be showy about both because 'silence is not golden ... silence is an admission of guilt.' " ...

"That's why it makes absolutely no sense for the U.S.-led coalition to continue its policy of disarming Iraqi citizens."
"For more than 200 years, Americans have operated under the constitutionally protected principle that citizens have the right to defend themselves by bearing arms."

The Indonesian military (TNI) has found four more locally-assembled rifles, five home-made bombs and 21 rounds of ammunition in the former conflict-plagued district of Poso, Central Sulawesi.

"Several pro-gun groups are pushing Utah legislators to throw out an instruction requirement for obtaining a concealed-carry permit. They argued last week before the Legislature's Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee that such regulations don't change the way law-abiding citizens handle firearms." ...
"But one statement during the hearing oversimplifies the enormous responsibility that comes with owning a gun, especially those that can be concealed. At one point, one of the group members said that handling a firearm is not much more complicated than owning a stapler."
"That's true in that only one motion is needed to activate both devices. But staplers typically don't have the power to kill a person."
"It is that difference that makes mandated instruction important. To be clear, guns don't kill people. Only people have the power to point a gun and pull the trigger. The vast majority of gun owners cherish their right to own weapons and follow the laws of our land." ...

Occasionally we hear that signs have been posted on local business entrances to prohibit firearms on the property of that business.
These notices are designed to warn law-abiding customers, who are duly licensed by the State of Ohio to carry concealed firearms for self-protection, that they are expected to give up the right of self-defense while on that property.
OFCC has now made available an information card to leave behind at businesses who have posted discriminatory signs banning CHL-holders. (Do Not Patronize While Armed)
Let them know they have just turned away a customer!

"ARMED police officers swooped on a gun conversion factory in South Norwood this week and seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition."
"Converted replica guns loaded with live ammunition were found in a backstreet garage on Tuesday afternoon."
"It is thought seven fully converted semi-automatic 9mm handguns with loaded magazines were destined for use on the streets of London."
------- This proves once again that the only kind of law that affects crime rates is the law of supply and demand. If there is a demand, criminals will find a supply, regardless of the law. |

"Residents in the northeast Harris County area say several recent deputy shootings were unjust and need to be investigated."

" 'They shot my son in the back a total of seven times,' Menifee said. 'The sheriff that did it, walked around and bragged about three days later.' "
"At the time of the shooting, Deputy Wallace Wyatt says Menifee was trying to run over him when he shot him." ... |

"The Senate defeated a bill Tuesday that would have made it legal to take guns in bars and restaurants if the bearers weren't drinking alcohol and if the establishments didn't forbid it."
"Under the bill (SB1210), which the Senate voted 15-13 against, bars and other liquor-license holders still could have excluded guns from their premises but only if they posted notices at entrances."
"Arizona now bans possession of firearms in bars and restaurants that sell alcohol."
"The bill, which previously was approved by the House, was a high priority for the National Rifle Association in the current legislative session."

"It's a real indication of the wrong direction that the state of Ohio has gone with these right-wing folks down there driving the issues. I cannot believe... the typical soccer moms in suburbia who have helped put these people in office are going to feel good when they go to the nearest Wendy's... and find a bunch of people with guns strapped to their hips."

"The shooting outside the market let two men wounded and a third man dead. Police believe that the dead man was the intended target, and the other two men were simply victims of a powerful weapon in the hands of a criminal who couldn't control it. The suspect is still at large."
"Police say gangs are brazenly firing off the weapons to scare off the competition. They've got the good people scared, too."
------- It is said that the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting different results. The ban is already ineffective. All it does is prevent the "good people" from defending themselves with a more powerful weapon than what the armed thugs are wielding. |

"A bill passed by the California Senate that would require ammunition buyers to provide a thumb print at the time of purchase amounts to "an insidious invasion of privacy," the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said today."
" 'California lawmakers are trying to reinvent a broken wheel,' said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron. 'Recording ammunition sales has proven to be ineffective in solving crime, and requiring a thumb print moves this idea into the realm of the ludicrous. It's a waste of time and taxpayers' money, but more importantly, this constitutes a serious privacy issue. If this measure dealt with something other than a gun control issue, the ACLU would be screaming about it.' " |
