"As CPRC notes, the Obama Administration is working closely 'with 23 large foundations to organize a push for national gun control.' Additionally, 'Michael Bloomberg donated $250 million to Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health,' and 'Obama has also been directing federal government funds towards gun control projects. Still other funds are being set up, such as the Fund for a Safer Future, which has $16 million to fund gun control research and is one of the many gun control projects being partially funded [by] George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. Recently, the MacArthur foundation has also been given a large million dollar grant.'” |

"Here’s a question. Without looking, do you know who your representatives are, at federal, state and lower levels? Do you know where they stand on the right to keep and bear arms? Do you know who their opponents are, and where they stand? If not, why not? The good ones need your help, right now, and the bad ones need your resolve to keeping them out of office and power. And if you don’t know what their position on guns is, how do you find out?" |

Mark Glaze, who heads up Mayors Against Illegal Guns — the pet project of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg — said he’s done with the group and is stepping down in June. The issue has become exhausting, he said, Breitbart reported. ... Mr. Glaze took over as executive director of the anti-gun group in 2011. His resignation does not mean he’s had a change of heart about the group’s mission. Rather, he said there was still hope to beat the National Rifle Association — it’s just going to take a while. Mr. Glaze’s announced resignation comes just a few weeks after Mr. Bloomberg announced he was injecting another $50 million into the group to fight the NRA in the 2014 elections.

It’s no secret that police departments around the country are deploying automated license plate readers to build massive databases to identify the location of vehicles. But one company behind this Orwellian tracking system is determined to stay out of the news. How determined? Vigilant Solutions, founded in 2009, claims to have the nation’s largest repository of license-plate images with nearly 2 billion records stored in its National Vehicle Location Service (NVLS). Despite the enormous implications of the database for the public, any law enforcement agency that signs up for the service is sworn to a vow of silence by the company’s terms of service.

Justified defensive shootings are fairly common in Detroit, with 12 justifiable homicides occurring this year and several other criminals wounded. Police Chief Craig has made national headlines by encouraging honest citizens to defend themselves. He has made it clear that citizens involved in self defense shootings will not be harassed and hounded. The full power of the state will not be used make examples of those who dare to defend themselves. At least not in the way the George Zimmerman was. |

Our Constitution is a resilient force, and our Bill of Rights has survived countless modifications and restrictions without the erosion of fundamental freedoms. Our Second Amendment right is no different: It can survive modification and restriction without the fear that it will vanish altogether. |

Well, well, well — another one bites the dust. No sooner had Michael Bloomberg’s latest gun-control effort been launched upon an indifferent nation than the group’s head honcho had announced that he was stepping down. “It’s time for me to hand off the fight to somebody else,” Everytown for Gun Safety’s executive director, Mark Glaze, explained to Yahoo News yesterday afternoon. “It’s a tough issue and a tough grind . . . and there’s a point where you feel you’ve done all you can do.” |

Now a similar situation has happened at a gun shop in Maryland.
Andy Raymond, the co-owner of Engage Armament, had also announced that he’d sell the smart gun. He, too, faced a broadside of Internet and store boycotts as well as in-person protests in front of his shop.
Pretty quickly, Raymond reversed his decision and apologized to Maryland, to gun owners everywhere, and to New Jersey for raising fears that the smart gun law would kick in there because he was selling the smart gun in Maryland.
Still, Raymond thought is was a bit hypocritical of gun owners to oppose the sale of a gun. |

State Rep. Mike Turner successfully pushed a bipartisan veto override of a measure that safeguards the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans.
Earlier this week, Gov. Mary Fallin vetoed 15 measures, including House Bill 2461, authored by Turner, which requires a sheriff or chief of police to execute any request for documents relating to the purchase of firearms defined by the National Firearms Act within 15 days if the purchaser is not prohibited of possessing a firearm. |

Women active in the post-Newtown effort to build voter support around stricter gun laws have an ambitious plan to turn "Gun Safety Moms' into the Soccer Moms of the 2014 election cycle.
But even with an infusion of $50 million from former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, motivating American moms to vote on guns faces a steep uphill climb - especially in Texas. |

A background check is required to buy a gun here in Virginia, but there’s no requirement that you know how to handle that firearm; training is not mandatory. But gun rights advocates, even the National Rifle Association, say it is not enough to put a gun next to your bed for personal protection.
Firing at an intruder is something most hope they’re never confronted with. Still, you purchased a gun to defend yourself if you had to. But have you ever handled your weapon?
Ed Coleman, the general manager at Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond has noticed in the surge of those seeking personal protection, a number of people are now packing heat without training. |

Jelcick said Friday that the man who shot the other man claimed self-defense. The shooter had a concealed carry license for his handgun, and he was not intoxicated, Jelcick added. Jelcick said the shooter also directed another person at the scene to call police during the confrontation.
"He was trying to do the right thing," Jelcick said. "He did try to hail police."
Jelcick said the investigation of the shooting is almost complete. When it is complete, it will be forwarded to the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney and it will be up to that office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed, he said. |

The Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation announced earlier today it had joined forces with Florida Carry, Inc., filing a lawsuit against the City of Tallahassee alleging the city has refused to amend a local ordinance that conflicts with the Sunshine State’s preemption law.
It is not the first time SAF has tangled with a municipal government over a gun law that violates a state preemption statute. While it did not result in a lawsuit, SAF’s confrontation with the City of Oak Harbor in early 2013 made headlines across the country, and the city ultimately dropped its resistance to nullifying its years-old ban on guns in parks. |

Unfortunately, South Africans are not as lucky to have the subject expressly addressed in our Constitution, but I believe through inference, the South African Constitution, read together with the Firearms Control Act (60 of 2000), does actually provide for our Constitutional right to lawful firearms ownership.
The anti-gun lobby will at this point spill their coffee over their screens and keyboards in utter disbelief and disgust as this is incomprehensible because this is not inline with their agenda to disarm the lawful and see us oppressed by the lawless.

Washington, D.C. has never allowed residents to carry guns outside the home in modern history, but that may be about to change. The Supreme Court is primed to take on the controversial issue of what, if any, limits are allowed to the Second Amendment right to bear arms in the Drake v. Jerejian case.
On Monday, the court could announce whether it will hear the petition of John Drake, an ATM owner who carries large amounts of cash but was denied a carry permit by New Jersey because it does not consider self-defense a “justifiable need. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all — security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again. — EDWARD GIBBON [On ancient Athens] |
