We regret to inform you that Governor Kelly's veto of House Bill 2304, which sought to establish firearm safety education curricula for students of all ages using the tried-and-tested NRA's Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism's existing Hunter Education In Our Schools, was not overridden due to one Republican, Rep. David Younger, not voting for it after he committed to doing so. |

The Democrat-controlled state Senate has voted along party lines to pass a bill requiring anyone in Delaware wanting to buy a handgun to first be fingerprinted, undergo training and obtain permission from the state. Tuesday's vote came after more than two hours of debate in which gun-control advocates argued that the proposal will help reduce the number of homicides and suicides in Delaware. Opponents argued that the bill infringes on the rights of law-abiding citizens and will have no effect on criminals responsible for the state’s gun violence problem. |

California, the birthplace of banning semi-automatics they mislabel “assault weapons,” has long been considered a laboratory for oppressive and ineffective gun control. Here are just two experiments in cities within the Golden State that anti-gunners would like to see exported to the rest of the country, in a seemingly never-ending quest to eradicate the Second Amendment. |

The Oregon House split along party lines Tuesday, May 2, to approve a ban on so-called ghost guns made with untraceable parts. The 35-24 vote sent House Bill 2005 to the Senate, which can only take an up-or-down vote on it. No Democrat voted against it, and no Republican voted for it. One Republican, James Hieb of Canby, was absent from the vote. |

The sales of firearms, especially AR-15-style rifles, unexpectedly turned up last month, apparently driven by efforts in several states to impose gun bans. Industry officials reviewing the latest FBI background check information said that states planning gun bans or moving to change the rules governing firearms purchases saw massive jumps in April sales. |

EAA, long known for their Regard, Witness, and Windicator models, two years ago began to import the Girsan MCP35 from Turkey. That later pistol seems to be modeled after the later post-1980 Browning Mark II/III models made by FN during the last few decades of the model's run with that company. The latter includes an external extractor, a serrated ring hammer, a slim trigger, a windage drift-adjustable rear sight, ships with a Mec-Gar produced 15-shot aftermarket double-stack magazine and includes both an ambidextrous safety and a magazine-disconnect safety (more on this abomination later). |

A 31-year-old man in Englewood, Chicago, was shot during an attempted robbery Saturday night, reminding us of the importance of proper self-defense tactics and the dangers of drawing from the drop. The victim was in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth Street around 9 p.m. when two unidentified males approached him as he got out of his car. One of the offenders pulled a gun and demanded his personal belongings. The victim, a licensed concealed carry holder, exchanged gunfire with the robbers, who subsequently fled the scene on foot. |

I have been called quite a few names over the years, but one label I wear proudly is “old school.” Trends come and go, but I like to look before I leap when it comes to new technology. Unless there is some tangible advantage, I would just as soon stick with something I know is going to work than take my chances with an uncertain future. |

There’s no doubt that the 12-gauge shotgun is the most popular shotgun caliber in the United States. It is extremely versatile and can handle a wide range of payloads for hunting anything North America has to offer. Furthermore, the 12 gauge is the de facto choice of military and law enforcement for all their tactical shotgun needs. |

QUOTES

I now think the only way to control handgun use is to prohibit the guns. And the only way to do that is to change the Constitution. — M. Gartner, then President of NBC News, USA Today, January 16, 1992, pg. A9 |
