Attorney General Bondi is facing criticism from the left for deploying the Department of Justice to protect the right to keep and bear arms. The move by the department’s Civil Rights Division is being decried, per Reuters, as “a sharp departure from the department’s longstanding approach.” Yet “the Second Amendment is not a second-class right,” Ms. Bondi avers. It’s good to hear the point marked by America’s top law enforcement officer. |

The North Kingstown Town Council spent much of its Monday night meeting addressing community concern both for and against a state gun control bill up for debate that would ban “assault weapons.”
Councilwoman Beth Hill Ross said she is one of the non-supporters of this bill, often simply referred to as the Rhode Island Assault Weapons Ban Act. In response, she drafted a resolution to make North Kingstown a “second amendment sanctuary” and asked the council to join several other Rhode Island cities and towns who have already chosen to do this. |

The treason is strong in Democrats, as the House and Senate get acquainted with the Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion (GOSAFE) Act. The measure intends to outlaw all semi-automatic firearms that feed from a detachable magazine, eliminating most modern rifles and handguns on the market, especially those commonly owned for self-defense.
Known in the House as H.R. 2790 and in the Senate as S.1370, the GOSAFE Act feels like a federal version of Colorado’s SB25-003, which was recently signed into law as a back-door permit-to-purchase scam, but had its origins steeped in the almost identical nonsense this dumpster fire seems intent on burning. |

A preliminary injunction in a case brought by a major gun rights group has opened the door for nonresident gun owners to apply for a California concealed carry permit.
In the Second Amendment Foundation case, CRPA v. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in January issued an injunction requiring California to accept permit applications from any United States resident outside the state who is a member of SAF or its partner organizations and not prohibited from possessing firearms. The California Rifle & Pistol Association, Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners Foundation, Gun Owners of California and several private citizens joined SAF in the action. |

Police said the man who fled the scene had been identified, but did not release his name. All three individuals reportedly knew each other, and the altercation was not believed to be a random attack, according to Lt. Mark Nadeau, a police spokesperson.
Nadeau said Friday morning that investigators were in communication with the man who fled, and that he was not considered a fugitive. There is “nothing to suggest” an active threat to the public, he added.
No criminal charges had been filed as of Friday morning. Police are exploring the possibility the stabbing was in self-defense, Nadeau said. |

Gun rights attorneys are calling it “monumental” and “a huge deal,” and at least one national gun rights organization is hailing the Trump administration for turning the U.S. government’s position on the Second Amendment a full 180 degrees by submitting an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court supporting petitioners in a case challenging the constitutionality of a state gun control law. |

Has Jacksonville’s handling of information about people carrying guns in city buildings violated state law?
The answer could be a problem for Mayor Donna Deegan’s administration, some mayor before her or maybe no one at all.
The question has brewed a set of claims and rebuttals since City Council member Nick Howland warned Thursday that “Jacksonville families could be on the hook for millions in legal fees, damages, and settlements” over actions of Deegan’s staff. |

The mother, whom NBC affiliate KFOR in Oklahoma City gives the pseudonym Marisa, expressed her fear and outrage at the situation and noted that the outcome could have been much worse: “What if I would have been armed? ... You’re breaking in. What am I supposed to think? My initial thought was we were being robbed — that my daughters, being females, were being kidnapped. You have guns pointed in our faces.”
What if they had been armed, indeed? After all, many, many Americans are armed. According to the Pew Research Center, 4 in 10 U.S. adults live in households with guns. And we have been taught to regard those weapons as a right, particularly one that enables us to defend ourselves, our loved ones and our homes. |

For perhaps the first time in United States history, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has joined a petitioner as an amicus party to defend American gun rights.
On May 1, the DOJ filed an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court in support of a petition for writ of certiorari in Wolford v. Lopez. The case challenges a Hawaii law passed in retaliation for the landmark 2022 ruling in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, prohibiting citizens from carrying firearms on publicly accessible private property without the owner’s express permission. |

I harbor a strong distaste for the hypocrisy that has walked among us as far back as I can remember, and much further, I’m sure. Hand in hand with sanctimony, it’s difficult to ignore, sometimes impossible to refrain from pointing out, and almost always shielded from reproach by the narcissists for whom it is a staple tool in life. |

Colorado’s latest gun-control measure (SB 25-003) is facing growing backlash because it infringes on constitutional rights and places undue burdens on law-abiding citizens.
SB 25-003, signed into law by Gov. Jared Polis (D), will take effect on August 1, 2026. The law mandates that prospective buyers of semi-automatic rifles, shotguns or handguns that are equipped with detachable magazines must complete safety training courses, pass written and practical tests, and obtain sheriff-issued eligibility permits before making a purchase. The measure also regulates the sale, transfer and manufacture of most semi-automatic firearms, with noncompliance punishable under state law. |
