... "'The harshness of the attacks themselves is misplaced, and to the extent these attacks are intended to divert the Attorney General from the vigorous enforcement of the nation's laws—including those protecting civil rights, voting rights, disability rights, and other core concerns—we are deeply troubled,' the coalition writes. In other words, investigating Holder is not just anti-civil rights, that's the intent behind it."
"Undeterred, Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars, who was the first to blog on the connection between the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and 'walked' guns, showed his trademark bluntness that earned him a spot on the [SPLC]’s latest 'key leaders of the radical right' list." ... |

"You may recall that I blogged the Memorial Day shootings in Chicago. During the same time span, Seattle had an outbreak of gun violence, including your basic drive-by collateral damage disaster. I focused on Chicago’s ballistic woes because the Windy City is to the second amendment what Kelly McGregoris to celibacy. And, to my astonishment, Emerald City media mavens and civic leaders blamed the city’s shootings on gangs rather than, say, 'easy access to guns.' According to seattletimes.nwsource.com, Seattle’s po-po didn’t get the memo. 'Seattle police officials Tuesday told the City Council that the outbreak of violence through Memorial Day weekend and since the beginning of the year has more to do with guns than with gangs . . .'" ... |

"In the midst of this mayhem, Ralph Fascitelli, president of Washington Ceasefire, showed up at the University District crime scene to talk with KIRO reporter Deborah Horne during a live feed. He insisted that the solution to Seattle's rash of homicides is to 'close the gun show loophole.' He subsequently appeared on KING/Northwest Cable News to pander his gun control agenda, insisting that Washington state's gun laws are simply too weak. In his discussion with KIRO, Fascitelli claimed that the Roosevelt area is his neighborhood." ... |

"The latest from popularmechanics.com is a list of '5 Invasive Species You Should be Eating.' Turns out you can help save the planet by dining on some tasty critters. As long as you don’t mind one of them being a giant rat. But not all the listees are exotic invaders. In fact, it probably won’t surprise most of you that PopMech's big five includes wild boar and feral pigs. Who’s not down for some baby back boar ribs? We know it won’t take much convincing to get Tyler and Nick out there, doing their part to help save the crops in Texas hill country. Not to mention South Georgia. "As a result of RF’s beneficence, I’m now the extremely proud owner of one of the slickest guns I’ve ever seen. The Gemini Customs SP101 is a thing of beauty and a joy to shoot – especially when it’s shooting .38s. And while lots o’ folks would relegate it to a specially padded and dehumidified corner of their safe, that’s just not me. I’ll get a lot more enjoyment out of it by carrying it from time to time so I can, you know, see it. And shoot it at the range. Even though that will inflict the inevitable wear marks and occasional dings that come with using a gun the way it’s designed. But along with the the great gun came a problem . . ." ... |

"There is a story out there, somewhere, of a police officer found dead with empty shell casings in his pocket. According to legend, he’d trained himself at the range to pick up his spent cartridges after his strings and did so in combat. Even if it’s true, who knows if doing the brass in pocket thing was the deciding factor? Nonetheless, point taken. You WILL fight as you’ve trained yourself to fight. And here’s the problem: you have no idea what kind of conflict lies ahead. In that sense, habit can be both your friend and your enemy. For example . . ." ... |

... "For instance, some of us have documented in the past that guns submitted for tracing account for only a small fraction of total guns seized, and how only about a third of those submitted guns came from U.S. dealers."
"And in a report that factors in government sales and non-civilian ordnance, Stratfor concludes:""[T]he 3,480 guns positively traced to the United States equals less than 12 percent of the total arms seized in Mexico in 2008 and less than 48 percent of all those submitted by the Mexican government to the ATF for tracing. This means that almost 90 percent of the guns seized in Mexico in 2008 were not traced back to the United States." "That's hardly 'a large proportion.'" ... |

When officers arrived, the suspects had apparently left the area. While officers were taking a report, Gibson pulled into the complex and parked.
