We have entered a time when a Texas official is happy to call on her fellow citizens to indict those who may be doing nothing wrong. Quite extraordinary. What we're seeing here is an admittedly less serious but still similar version of Soviet and Nazi-style snitch fetishism. Yes, those found in breach of the judge's authority are unlikely to be sent to a gulag or a concentration camp. Still, the socially corrosive rot of this approach is clear. And in a historically enduring sense, it is perhaps best encapsulated by the story of Pavlik Morozov. |

On the day after hundreds of angry Michigan citizens entered the Capitol building in Lansing—some of them visibly armed—to protest Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-home order, she extended it without legislative approval, possibly setting the stage for a legal confrontation.
More than 2,250 miles to the west, a group of citizens in Washington State, including gubernatorial candidate and anti-tax crusader Tim Eyman will file a federal lawsuit against Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee for his extended statewide shutdown. Eyman sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, inviting him to join the lawsuit. |

A Seattle-based gun prohibition lobbying group is reaching out to supporters for donations with a message asserting “the federal government is making it as easy as possible for people to panic-buy firearms and ammunition by allowing drive-through gun sales,” but is this a carefully-crafted myth?
The billionaire-backed Alliance for Gun Responsibility declares in its message, “Right now, for every one drive-through COVID-19 testing site in the U.S., there are 100 gun dealers that can now offer drive-through pick-up. As our communities face the dual threat of gun violence and coronavirus it should not be easier to get a gun than a COVID test. Period.”

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) extended her state’s coronavirus shutdown two more weeks, but simultaneously noted that Federal Firearms License holders (FFLs) could reopen their gun stores and take customers by appointment. On May 1, KOB 4 reported that Grisham extended the shutdown to May 15, but allowed gun stores, pet services, and golf courses to open sooner.

The ballyhoo over the U.S. Supreme Court’s tiptoe around a Second Amendment decision this week might be a gun control celebration a little too soon. The Supreme Court ruled this week in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. City of New York that changes made after the Court granted certiorari (agreed to hear the appeal) to the City of New York’s onerous ordinance and regulations rendered the case “moot.” That’s the ordinance that burdened the ability of the city’s gun owners to travel with lawfully owned, unloaded, and locked firearms to destinations outside the city. |

Introduced in 1980, the 9x21mm IMI was a creation between the Franco Benvenuti agency of Italy and Israel Military Industries (IMI). Many countries, including Italy and most of the European Union, have banned the use of all military ammunition, such as the 9mm Parabellum. In order to circumvent gun control measures, the collaborative effort to create a substitute ammunition was seen as a good resolution and would allow civilians to own and use a powerful cartridge without fear of repercussions.

A veteran Oakland County sheriff's deputy is facing a criminal charge in the shooting of a pregnant16-year-old girl in a vehicle during a March traffic stop in Pontiac.
Deputy Christopher Cadotte, 52, was arraigned Friday in 50th District Court in Pontiac on a charge of careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death in the March 9 incident.
Cadotte, a 20-year veteran police officer, was released on a $25,000 personal bond. His next court date is June 16, according to the Sheriff's Office and court records.
The Sheriff's Office said in a news release that termination proceedings have begun. |

U.S. Senators are warning big banks not to use the recent pandemic recovery funds as a bludgeon against industries they find out of fashion. In other words, don’t use taxpayer funds as a weapon to score political points at the next corporate cocktail party. U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), along with 18 additional senators, authored a letter to Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin and Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, warning them not just that this could happen, but they fully expect it to happen. On the afternoon of March 24, two Delray Beach, Fla., code enforcement officials walked into Wex Gunworks and told owner Brandon Wexler that he had to shut down over concerns about coronavirus. Wexler's mind immediately went to the customers who had begun flooding his shop as the deadly virus spread. The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” That’s unambiguous. Not “pretty unambiguous,” just unambiguous. Full stop. Yet governors across the country are ignoring or suspending almost every one of those rights enumerated at the top of the Bill of Rights, with little to no pushback from the press, which just happens to be the only part of the first two amendments not under assault. |

When I first got into modern sporting rifles like the AR-15 in 2004, the backup iron sight (or BUIS) market was very limited. LMT had a set, so did Knights Armorment, and plenty of people simply cut down detachable carry handles. Waterfowl hunting season planning can now get underway since the 2020-2021 migratory bird season hunting dates and regulations were recently approved by the Board of Natural Resources. “Recent federal legislation, the Natural Resources Management Act, allows Georgia to offer two additional days of duck hunting to active duty military and veterans,” Greg Balkcom, the state waterfowl biologist for the DNR’s Wildlife Resources Division, said in a news release. “These days will occur on the same dates as Youth Waterfowl Days, which are on Nov. 14-15 this year. The duck hunting season will end on the fixed date of Jan. 31 like last year.
