Your choices for a new handgun are almost endless, from small pistols that are ideal for self-defense to the latest and greatest race guns designed for competition to large format handguns based on the AR-15 and other platforms. The guns are out there, now all you have to do is find them and take them to the range. |

In the beginning … Sam Colt came up with the first truly workable repeating sixgun with the Patersons of 1836. They were well received, especially by the Texas Rangers, but Sam went bankrupt, ending the Paterson. However, it wasn’t long before there was a definite need for repeating revolvers, and in late 1846 Sam Walker ordered 1,000 “heavy” wheelguns from Sam Colt and he was back in business. |

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) attended the May 2, 2022, Met Gala in a tuxedo emblazoned with the words, “End Gun Violence.” Adams’ attendance in a gun control tuxedo comes less than a month after an alleged attacker opened fire on the New York City (NYC) subway with a firearm he purchased “legally.”

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) proudly announces its endorsement of Kevin Stitt for governor in the 2022 Oklahoma Republican Primary. "Gov. Stitt has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to protecting and preserving the Second Amendment rights of every Oklahoma gun owner," said Jason Ouimet, chairman, NRA-PVF. "That commitment was on full display when Gov. Stitt signed constitutional carry legislation in 2019 — eliminating the requirement that law-abiding citizens seek additional permission to exercise their fundamental right of self-defense.” |

By the start of the Civil War, repeating firearms were growing in popularity. Many, such as the Henry Repeating Rifle, were not adopted en masse during the war. However, with the advent of revolvers there was a rise in the sidearms soldiers and officers carried. Revolvers were made by several companies during the war and came in many shapes and sizes, including one that added a shotgun barrel underneath the cylinder, known as the LeMat Revolver. It was not the most popular on the battlefield but was one of the strangest. |

Smith & Wesson (NASDAQ:SWBI) in its long history has proven not to be a good long-term investment. Its price per share has historically fluctuated greatly and today the company is trading at the same price as in 2007. The reasons for this discontinuity are mainly due to the profitability of Smith & Wesson's core business which is often affected by exogenous components that can have a positive or negative effect on earnings. I consider the purchase of this company to be a good choice only for good profits in the short term when purchased at a heavily discounted price, such as in mid-2019. |

The Biden administration’s Department of Homeland Security has announced the formation of the “Disinformation Governance Board.” Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, said the purpose of this new arbiter of truth will be to warn us about falsehoods from Russia and more. It is reportedly to be headed by Nina Jankowicz, who once referred to the Hunter Biden laptop as a “Trump campaign product.” She also, early in the pandemic, tweeted that she hoped Big Tech “stops placing ads for mask and worse (straight up disinfo!) on articles and info about coronavirus.” |

Smith & Wesson revolvers – even though the tech behind them is old – are still one of the most popular guns around as they are reliable. However, they are pricey. Could these classic firearms be simply overrated in 2022? It’s difficult to beat a revolver for reliability. They usually don’t malfunction or jam because they have fewer moving parts compared to semi-automatics. |

Today, let’s consider the Polish P-64 pistol. It was designed in the 1950s and finally adopted in 1965, but such is the nature of government-managed economies in Communist countries. The P-64 resembles a clunkier, hump-backed, Walther PPK and has similar features — fixed barrel, blowback action, double-action/single-action trigger, hammer drop safety and an identical field stripping procedure. |

The owner of Eagle Arms in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, was a bit tired of dealing with gun control debates when we visited his store recently. “It’s not guns. It’s society,” Rick Koehler said when PIX11 News arrived to discuss new rules about gun kits. “Decayed.” Koehler has interacted with a lot of New Yorkers in recent years, especially since the crime rate in the city is soaring. “All the New York people that moved here, they brought the problems with them,” he said. |

There’s nothing ambiguous or convoluted about it, and it hasn’t been re-written or redefined by “the gun lobby” in recent years, as our opponents like to suggest. Writers going all the way back to the founding have supported our interpretation that the “right of the people to keep and bear arms” means what it says and is enforceable against the states as a fundamental right. |

Only good things happen when renowned speed shooter Jerry Miculek gets involved in creating a fast-running, reliable autoloading shotgun. That’s how Mossberg’s amped-up 940 Pro line of torture-tested scatterguns was born. While they’ve been proven in competition, those same features translate perfectly to the latest hunting models, including the 940 Pro Waterfowl we tested under brutal conditions off the Maine coast in mid-December. Here’s what we learned about the gun.

The Fourth Estate has muzzled itself and abrogated its once powerful government watchdog role, which even critics said was vital to the functioning of our democracy. Today’s media has become a willing participant in its own demise – an accessory after the fact, so to speak – not because of a Supreme Court loss, another shift in technology or for any other reason. To be clear, the media abandoned it ethics, its readers and its legacy for the dirtiest of rationales: Politics. |

Christian Sharps is probably best remembered for his famous Sharps falling-block, breechloading, single-shot rifle, which he patented on Sept. 12, 1848. But a little more than a year later, on Dec. 18, 1849, he also patented an equally innovative four-barreled derringer. Although that patent, No. 6960, describes the palm-size gun as a “revolver,” nothing revolved except a single firing pin affixed to a circular ratchet on the hammer, at first, and on the frame later.

I was once perusing my local gun forum and someone posted a question, “Which is better for big game hunting in North America? 300 Win Mag or 300 WSM?” The users who answered all began debating differences in ballistics, case capacity, terminal performance, and ammo selection.
However, I’d like to pose a simpler answer: Yes! |
