"The gun control movement known as the Million Mom March took over the state Capitol grounds Saturday. But the political momentum lay with a smaller group across the street who hoisted signs reading, "Guns Save Lives". The counter-protesters were bused in from a gun show by Grass Roots North Carolina, a pro-firearms group whose formidable organizing helped persuade state lawmakers last month to vote down a gun safety bill the marchers wanted."

~Another cop shoots an unarmed man~
KABA NOTE: The article says there was a warrant out for the unarmed man's arrest, and that he sped off in his car when an officer asked him to pull over.
"'When you shoot one of us, you shoot all of us,' the Rev. Al Sharpton told the crowd."
...ahhh, if only gun owners were as well organized...
If you don't want the police to shoot at you, here is a word of advice: don't speed off in your car when they ask you to pull over. |

Eight Democrat Senators "voted with their feet" on a bill that would make it easier for people to get permits to carry concealed weapons: they boycotted the Finance Committee meeting. Their absence prevented the committee from getting a quorum, so the committee could not vote. "The rare move demonstrates the extraordinary lengths being used to stop the concealed-carry legislation from becoming law." |

Marlene Williams will serve 50 hours of community service and pay a $350 fine for selling a firearm without waiting three days to deliver it. In exchange, all charges will be dropped.
But Williams and other gun sellers said the County Commission should share some of the blame for failing to spread the word about the ordinance. "If they're going to pass an asinine law, the least they can do is tell people about it," said J. David Philips, owner of A-1 Pawn & Jewelry in Crystal River. |

Charlissa Stokes said she got her permit several years ago.
"Several years ago my home was broken into and I was in it, so when the opportunity arose to (get a permit), well, I did it," she said.
"In all fairness, as good a job as the police department does, they can't be everywhere at once. They can only respond to an emergency. They are not in the business of protecting me from having the incident happen in the first place," Stokes said. |

"One way or another, everybody's been the bully — or been bullied — at school. Nashville singer-songwriter Lee Domann knows the feeling. He's been singing about the need for schoolyard forgiveness and compassion for 20 years. ...
"Fifth-graders are ripe for this sort of thing ... This is the time when they're forming identity by identifying with a group and excluding others. They need to learn that you may not like someone, but you have to treat them with respect." |

South African whites are being viciously attacked and killed, and a media blackout of the crimes has not helped. Criminals who are usually armed with powerful AK-47 military carbines, have been rampaging across the country with little resistance from the authorities. |
