"The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) today released its annual report, Protect Children Instead of Guns 2004, detailing gun deaths among children and teenagers throughout the country. As the threat of gun violence grows, the report helps show why the Bush Administration and Congress should renew the ten-year-old Assault Weapons Ban. ...Children and teens continue to die from gun violence in America at unprecedented levels in comparison to the rest of the industrialized world. Using the most recent annual data, CDF's report shows that 2,911 children and teens die from gun violence each year - one child every three hours. ...Thanks in part to the Assault Weapons Ban, gun deaths among children and teens has decreased since 1994."
------- How many of these "children" are gang-bangers? How many of these deaths are suicides? And how many are actually committed with banned "assault" weapons.
This particular press release attempts to link the "assault" weapons ban with the deaths of children, without actually establishing a connection. It mentions ambiguous deaths by firearms and attempts to promote the unconstitutional "assault" weapons ban by using this generalization. |

But when the far-right grassroots found out, Wayne's world came crashing down." "Today the tension is boiling over in a more public way. "The most profound impact the next president will have on the direction of the country, aside from prosecuting the war on terror, pertains to the nomination of judges. Absent retirements before the November election, the next president will likely nominate between two and four justices to the Supreme Court, as well as scores of judges to the federal district and appeals courts." ...
"Kerry has pledged to nominate only pro-choice judges to the Supreme Court. ..."
------- The majority of the current Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republicans (7 out of 9), and President Bush appointed Reggie Walton - a U.S. District Judge, who declared that "the Second Amendment does not confer an individual right to possess firearms."
