"The Department of Justice issued an extensive report that very clearly and definitely shows that the Second Amendment was intended to protect an individual right."
"In examining the word 'right' as it is used in the Constitution, the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) concluded that a right was something reserved to individuals."
"...whenever the word 'right' is used in the Constitution, it means an individual right, saying, 'not once does the Constitution confer a 'right' on any governmental entity, state or federal. Nor does it confer any 'right' restricted to persons in governmental service,' meaning that the Second Amendment 'right' is not restricted to people in active military service nor any other governmental service." |

"As the ninnies who bleat for government destruction of our rights have consistently demonstrated, it’s not about results. Commentator Martha Blume, in Chesapeake’s Bay Weekly calls for a Constitutional amendment: 'The right of the people to feel safe from gun violence in their homes, neighborhoods, schools, places of worship, employment, on the streets and in any other public places shall not be infringed.'”

"The media has extensively portrayed the NRA as a lobbying group for the gun industry, bent on destroying the barriers that exist between citizens and obtaining firearms. When I have written commentaries supporting Second Amendment rights, many have called me a pundit for the NRA, hell-bent on chaos and destruction. I am a member of the NRA, and fully understand the efforts of both my organization and the anti-gun lobby to accomplish their goals."
"The NRA was started by two Union officers right after the United States Civil War in an effort to improve marksmanship amongst some Union troops. General Ambrose Burnside, a resolute abolitionist, became the first President." |

"A high school student was suspended for 10 days for refusing to end a mobile phone call with his mother, a soldier serving in Iraq, school officials said."
"The 10-day suspension was issued because Kevin Francois was 'defiant and disorderly' and was imposed in lieu of an arrest, Spencer High School assistant principal Alfred Parham said."
"The confrontation Wednesday began after the 17-year-old junior got a call at lunchtime from his mother, Sgt. 1st Class Monique Bates, who left in January for a one-year tour with the 203rd Forward Support Battalion."
"Mobile phones are allowed on campus but may not be used during school hours. When a teacher told him to hang up, he refused. He said he told the teacher, 'This is my mom in Iraq. I'm not about to hang up on my mom.'"

Cedar Rapids police charged a teenager for shooting a student with a BB gun.
Police say 18-year-old Timothy Kalb shot a 15-year-old girl on Kennedy High School grounds on Tuesday. The girl, who was shot in the forehead, was treated and released from the hospital for a surface wound.
Kalb faces charges for interfering with official acts after lying to police about the situation. Since a BB gun is not a firearm, police say he did not violate state weapons laws.
