"Many agencies deny the rights of the people they serve and depend heavily on people not protesting. Sometimes, when the constituents object, we're treated as pests. Nice relationship, huh. This is the kind of mentality that is killing the country, and it is we who have the say and not the servants."

"When it comes to concealed carry permits for handguns, California state law speaks to a Sheriff or Chief who may issue permit on showing of good cause in the mind of the head law enforcement officer."

"California is out of step with the rest of the country on this topic where more than forty states have a more friendly provision for citizens to be armed wherever they have a right to be. ..." ...

"In theory, law-abiding Californians who undergo a criminal background check and pass a government training course can receive a permit from their local sheriff to carry a concealed firearm."

But in practice, many California counties flatly deny permits ... a situation that a lawsuit filed in federal court in Sacramento on Tuesday hopes to remedy."

"The lawsuit filed by the [SAF] and the Calguns Foundation says the routine denials of concealed carry permits violate the right to bear arms protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution."

"On March 23, President Obama nominated Harold Koh, former Dean of the Yale Law School, to be Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. As Heritage U.S. Senate Relations Director Brian Darling writes in Human Events, 'one of the many concerns [conservatives have] with Koh is his belief that international organizations should be empowered to regulate the Second Amendment right to own a firearm.'"

"Conservatives are concerned with the shift away from reliance on the Constitution as the final legal authority in the U.S. ... We often hear about the thousands of people every year who kill themselves with guns, the thousands more who kill others with guns and the hundreds of lethal accidents that happen in a year with a gun. "We often hear advice being given suggesting that during a robbery you should offer up no resistance and do exactly what you're told. After all, the robber is only after your money, right? Setting aside the fact that, for women, rape is a very real possibility as a secondary crime during a robbery, we can look at several real life instances to see if the "always comply" advice is sound." ...
-------

Author's Note: "Do exactly as you are told. DO NOT RESIST!" That advice for how to survive a robbery is often given by "experts" who don't understand the criminal mindset. Far too often, even full compliance leads to the injury or death of the victim. Sometimes, resistance isn't futile.

As far as he was concerned, D.C. law said one thing about owning firearms and the Second Amendment said something else. Thus, he was excited when the Supreme Court ruled 5–4 that the Second Amendment protected an individual right to own a firearm, thereby tossing out D.C.'s odious handgun ban."

"I recently finished reading The Ohio Guide to Firearm Laws by Ken Hanson, now in the third edition. For all the people who have acquired their first CHL in the past year, this book should be considered a must-read. For those who have already read one of the previous editions, there is enough new material in the latest version to make it worthy investment of your time and money."

"If you are going to play a game, you need to know the rules. Carrying a gun, or using it for self defense, are far more serious than any game, and it is infinitely more important that you fully know and understand the rules. "When it comes to crime in America, the problem is far from intractable. Like most crises, it is only made to seem intractable. Millions of completed acts of brutality, theft, homicide and others are completed largely for lack of resistance. Political guidance to cooperate is not only surrender, but is a very bad bit of advice from people who don't live the life of the everyman and who do not face everyday risks. Advice to do nothing grows crime, and to 80 million adult gun owners, the advice is suspicious. ..." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? [...] The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!" —Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Chapter 1 "Arrest")
