"If you own a gun in Illinois, take precautions. The state attorney general, Lisa Madigan, wants to release the names of gun owners in response to an Associated Press request. Publication of that list would tell the criminal class where the guns are, which could be useful to two different sorts of lawbreakers: gun thieves who want to know where the guns are and burglars who want to know where they are not."
"New York City released its list recently at The New York Times' request. It included 'dozens of boldface names and public figures: prominent business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, journalists, judges and lawyers,' the Times reported. It then named names." ... |

Your first thought is probably flowers, right? Way too cliche. Chocolates? They’ll only make her fat. A Hallmark card? Please. You need to give her something unique. Something unusual. Something family and friends will ask her about . . . You need to give her a silver or gold flattened bullet . . ." ... |

"... Before I retired from the Army, I spent 1968-1971 on the ground in sunny Vietnam. While in country, I had an M14a1, which I miss dearly, and an early M16. I refused to carry that weapon after the first dance with Charles. ... And then I found the 'girl of my dreams': an M3a1 Grease Gun. It never jammed, ate all the dirt, sand, and mud it was fed, wasn’t picky about her make-up. A shower, dip in a rice paddy every now and then, and she was happy. In the same way, establishing a good armed home defense plan isn’t a goal in itself. It’s a process. Finding the right weapon or weapons is only one important part of the puzzle. Answer these five questions in the comments section below, and then we’ll move on . . ." ... |

"I hate to say it but Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign, is a whiny loser. The press release below is because NRA News sent a cameraman to the Brady Campaign's press conference where they announced their state 'score cards'. What really must get Mr. Helmke is the realization that the media, though openly sympathetic to gun control, considers the Brady Campaign irrelevant." ... |

Submitter's note: this has to be the most bigoted cartoon I have ever seen in my life. The insults towards gun owners come from multiple angles. I strongly suggest that you contact the left wing writer AND the editor. Some say this does no good, but if you are civil and intelligent, it really does have a small positive effect to stand against this kind of evil. |

As such, it’s always good to remember the viewpoint(s) from which the government (all of them, federal, state and local) operates. Its world view. How it looks at things. One of its main precepts is, no matter how big the deficit or how close we get to the fiscal precipice, the problem isn’t too much spending, it’s not enough revenue. That’s right, America, you’re just not paying enough taxes. What’s the latest brainstorm from the Administration for raising more tax dollars?
