A former Minnesota state trooper on Wednesday pleaded guilty to texting himself intimate pictures from a woman's cell phone after she'd been in a suspected DWI crash.
Albert Kuehne, 37, was originally charged with two felony harassment counts that could've carried a possible five-year prison sentence.
But Kuehne pleaded guilty in Hennepin County District Court to a lesser charge of misdemeanor nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images and agreed to two years of probation.

A pregnant woman shot and killed her boyfriend on Thursday morning at a north Harris County residence after he reportedly assaulted her, officials said.
The 30-year-old woman called authorities around 8:55 a.m. to report that she shot her boyfriend in self defense, said Sgt. Wolfford of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Baltic Lane near Cypress Station where they found a 29-year-old man dead inside the doorway of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds, Wolfford said. |

There is a lot more to carrying a concealed firearm for self-defense than snapping a holster on your waistband and walking out the door. It’s a serious commitment that will impact pretty much everything someone does outside their home, from the clothes a person wears and how they wear them, to the way they get into a car and buckle a seatbelt, to the exact mechanics of picking something up off the floor—or at least, it should. |

In three weeks, permit less carry goes into effect in Tennessee.
And is it impacting gun sales? The folks at Royal Range in Nashville say they’re not seeing much of an impact on sales due to the Permitless carry law. But, the gun range store says recently they’ve seen a new trend with women.
“So far not a giant impact,” Bob Allen, the Director of Training at Royal Range said. “We’re kind of steady, maybe just a little bit above right now. And really about the same with ammo,” Allen said. |

More than 20 protesters crowded the entrance gate to the Amazon construction site beginning shortly after 5 p.m. A few carried flags with positive messages of unity, while others took their guns with them to the protest, which organizer Keren Prescott said was in an effort to indicate that the stakes are being raised.
“There is nothing like Black people exercising their Second Amendment right to get folks moving,” Prescott said, referring to the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that protects the right to keep and bear arms. “We are tired of being nice.” |

Cuyahoga County prosecutors cannot find the only witness who says he witnessed a U.S. soldier charged with murder fire a weapon during a deadly 2018 New Year’s Eve party shootout that left three men dead.
Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Gregory Mussman told Common Pleas Court Judge Joan Synenberg Thursday before opening statements in the second trial of Tevin Biles-Thomas that they cannot find Macquise “Taboo” Lewis. The witness did not respond to a subpoena to appear in court Wednesday, did not answer phone calls or text messages from police and prosecutors and was not home on Wednesday or Thursday when police tried to find him. |

Yesterday, Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) opposing the recently proposed rule: Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached “Stabilizing Braces”. On June 7th, ATF published a new notice of this proposed rulemaking on its website. The rule seems aimed at making nearly all configurations of firearms equipped with stabilizing braces subject to the taxation and registration requirements of the National Firearms Act. |

If anyone tries to tell you that Senate Bill 256, passed by the Democrat majority in the recent legislative session, is just about giving local governments control over gun regulation, they’re lying through their teeth. Fact is that the bill, which unwinds decades of state pre-emption over guns in Colorado, only allows for laws stricter than those at the state level; a bastardization of the concept of ‘local control.’ The bill also penalizes those Coloradans most vulnerable to acts of violence, and most in need of being able to defend themselves. |

The state has formally appealed a court ruling last Friday that overturned California’s longstanding ban on assault weapons, marking the next step of a legal battle that could eventually reach the Supreme Court.
Speaking from a news conference at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center alongside the governor and mayor, Attorney General Rob Bonta referenced last month’s mass shooting at a San Jose VTA yard that left nine dead as evidence that “no one law” can stop mass shootings — but pledged to fight the controversial ruling nonetheless. |

The persistent delays in issuing Firearm Owner’s Identification cards in Illinois that has doubled in the last year-and-a-half continues after a federal judge shot down a motion this week seeking to force the state to issue backlogged cards.
Illinoisans who want to legally buy or own firearms and ammunition must have a FOID card issued by Illinois State Police. Penalties for not having one when owning a firearm depend on the circumstances, but can range from a misdemeanor to a felony charge with up to three years in prison. |

The 1911 is often considered a real man’s gun or the pistol of a professional. Prices range from less than $500 to beyond $5000, and that’s before gold inlays, engraving, or genuine ivory grips are added in. Nighthawk’s Turnbull VIP 1911 retails for $7999. Wilson Combat’s more practical X-Tac Supergrade Professional starts at $4795. And Springfield Armory’s Ultimate Carry Handgun will cost you $3395. |

Missouri police will be barred from enforcing federal gun laws that regulate weapons registration, tracking and possession of firearms by some domestic violence offenders under a bill Gov. Mike Parson, a former sheriff, announced Thursday he will sign into law.
Passage of the “Second Amendment Preservation Act” represents a victory for conservatives who have pushed the legislation for nearly a decade and picked up new momentum this year by responding to the Biden administration’s vows to enact stricter gun control. |

TO REMEMBER |
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. — Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1. |
