"I do not own any guns. I'm not a hunter and not a member of a right-wing militia. ... But if I felt my freedom to be in immediate and profound danger - from the government or from the Crips - I would arm myself as quickly as possible by any means necessary. The idea that we have an attorney general that at least under some circumstances would agree that I am within my rights to do so is, I think, a good thing." --Crispin Sartwell |

The idea, ATF officials said, was to prod "uncooperative" gun shops into compliance. Valley Gun owner Sanford Abrams saw it as an improper power play and sued the bureau. His fight with the nation's gun police could wind up before the Supreme Court.
Last week, a three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a federal district judge who sided with Abrams more than year ago. The appellate judges said the bureau was not overreaching and could collect information on firearm sales from the store. |

"A jury found drug maker Glaxo-SmithKline liable for a shooting rampage that resulted in the death of a family." --Los Angeles Times, June 8
~That jury is nuts! There are extensive warnings on all prescription drugs. It is the sole responsibility of the doctor and patient to make sure the drugs are safe for the person to take. |

Shlafly questioned, "Will patients no longer see their physician as a trusted professional in whom they can confide their most private facts about mind and health? Will the physician instead be perceived as an arm of the government prying into their private lives, or as a spokesman of a special-interest advocacy group pursuing a political agenda?"
~You bet your butt we will! I'm not telling my doctor ANYTHING, anymore, ever, outside of what is necessary to receive proper treatment. |

"Let me be clear: FDLE did not "cave" to the National Rifle Association's "pressure" in making its decisions on how to implement the statewide database. We simply followed the clear indication of existing legislative policy on the current issue of firearms." --James T. Moore, commissioner, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Tallahassee |

"Here are four ways that you can get involved to help make sure that the outcome of the UN Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms does as much as possible to protect people around the world from armed violence." -IANSA.org
Instead, spread the word about National Firearms Purchasing Day. Make sure you buy something firearms-related or go to the range with your buddies on that day. Write to your local papers and government officials and tell them of you and your friends' celebration! |

"Attorneys for an anti-gun group pushing to overturn the new concealed weapons permit law are wary about their chances before a conservative Michigan Supreme Court that prides itself on sticking to the literal meaning of laws it reviews."

"The Albuquerque City Council — worn out from fights over money, baseball and redistricting — is delaying action on another contentious issue: concealed handguns. A new law will allow the state to issue permits to carry concealed handguns where they are not banned locally. Mayor Jim Baca wants a ban in Albuquerque." |

"'Compound' has a way of conveniently dehumanizing the people who live in the place being described. CNN anchors and reporters endlessly invoked 'compound' to describe the home of the 76 Branch Davidians who were killed during the Clinton-Reno government siege at Waco, Texas, in 1993.
And now the word has been resurrected again. Over the past week, I heard 'compound' used repeatedly by CNN correspondents who left their posh East Coast digs to cover a five-day 'standoff' in rural America between armed government agents and a frightened family." --Michelle Malkin |

"One issue that defenders of freedom must eventually confront is precisely how much of our liberty has been lost and what — if anything different — we should do to halt that constant erosion. In other words, what strategies and tactics are proper given our assessment of the threats we face to our independence." --Russell Madden
