"Decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court are impossible to predict. Often, if they were still alive, the framers of the Constitution would be astounded by the interpretation of their simple language. Compromised decisions have sponsored unintended consequences that are destructive to some of the basic principles of our nation. ..." ...
"The Supreme Court, for the first time, is about to render a decision regarding the Second Amendment ... Certainly during and after the Revolutionary War an armed militia was critical to achieve and maintain independence ... Many citizens believe that the first part of the amendment, forming a 'militia,' establishes the justification for the second part, 'the right to keep and bear arms.' ..." ... |

"A lone frontiersman made an appearance at the U.S. Supreme Court in March, when, in oral argument in D.C. v. Heller, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy invoked the remote settler defending 'himself and his family ...'"
"At stake was whether the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. Although the amendment's words tie the right to bear arms to the state's militia power, proponents of an individual right claim that the amendment reflects a deeper constitutional principle: the individual right of self-defense. This invocation, however, moves only a half-step, stopping well short of identifying the broader and more apt Second Amendment principle, that of protection. ..." ... |

... "With the Heller ruling not even announced, the Brady Bunch appears to be unhappy with where they expect it to go. Oh, and Paul? That the Second Amendment is a Constitutional guarantee of the fundamental, absolute human right of the individual to keep and bear arms isn't a 'theory'--that's the fact of the plain text in the Bill of Rights. Get used to it."
"Even with a favorable (for us) Heller ruling (which I refuse to see as anything close to a foregone conclusion, as much as I'd like to), the advocates of forcible citizen disarmament have no intention of giving up and moving to the UK, however." ... |

"Nevertheless, to hear Paul Helmke talking to ABC News with such a defeatist position is mind-boggling. Remember, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (formerly Handgun Control Inc.) has been happily spewing half-truths for more than a decade. Much of the legacy media has happily carried the Bradys' water, never questioning their bizarre sound bytes and quotes designed to frighten an uninformed public." ... |

"Brady Campaign Attorney Dennis Henigan said there are multiple gun control measures that would not run afoul of a Supreme Court decision striking down the D.C. gun ban."
"'Universal background checks don't affect the right of self-defense in the home. Banning a super dangerous class of weapons, like assault weapons, also would not adversely affect the right of self-defense in the home,' said Henigan. 'Curbing large volume sales doesn't affect self-defense in the home.'" ... -------

FULL TEXT BELOW
It's been called one of the most evil institutions of the 20th century. Operating under the code name S-21, Pol Pot's secret prison was an interrogation, torture, and execution center used to exterminate suspected traitors of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge. From 1976 to 1979, thousands entered its gates--only seven escaped alive. While focusing on the prison, we see how Pol Pot's campaign of forced labor, starvation, and murder left 1.7 million Cambodians dead. -------
Submitter's Note: I felt that this show on History Channel is quite a statement on how a government could exterminate millions of unarmed people.
It is frightening. |

"Under state law, people committed to inpatient treatment have demonstrated that they pose a threat to themselves or others. Those committed to outpatient therapy have a mental illness which, without proper care, could deteriorate to a dangerous level."

"The high school principal who wrote a letter of support for Derrick Foster, the man charged with attempted murder for wounding two police officers conducting a paramilitary-style drug raid last month, has since apologized. Pickerington High School's Scott Reeves apologized in front of 14 police officers after the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police organized a campaign against him for daring to vouch for the character of a man who mistook raiding cops for armed robbers during the raid." ...
