"With Democrats lauding the service record of B. Todd Jones and Republicans grilling him on scandals like Fast and Furious and allegations of whistleblower retaliations, yesterday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building demonstrated a marked difference in the receptiveness of the two parties toward President Obama’s nominee for Director of the [ATF]. Completely overshadowed in the proceedings was the nomination of Stuart F. Delery for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division." ... |

"Julian Sarafian wrote an article for The Daily Californian that just screamed out for the Bruce Krafft treatment. But since Bruce is indisposed at the moment, I’ll do the honors. Usually articles that claim to impart some scrap of knowledge on the uninformed reader are labeled as 'X For Dummies.' It implies that the reader is the dummy, and the author the informed individual. In this case, the title of the piece ('A Dummy’s Guide to Winning Gun Control Debates') implies that the owner of the guide is a dummy, which would be the author. So the author is calling himself an idiot, and based on the illogical and fact-less content of the article, it’s hard to disagree . . ." ... |

"Thingiverse is a site where you can download files for making all sorts of gadgets, doohickeys, and thingamabobs with your 3-D printer. You can even get the files to print toy pistols or stackable ammunition boxes. You can’t, however, download the plans for the Liberator or other 'real' guns, but you can make your feelings on the whole idea of printable guns known there (as long as you’re agin’ it). The page with the sign above is titled 'guns are bad.' The designer (known only as 'Gecko') says in the description 'After being asked 6 times in one day if I was going to print out a gun I thought I needed a simple concise sign. Maybe others will need it too.' . . ." ... |

"Just got back from picking up my new Sig P226 Combat in 9mm. A real beauty and cannot wait to shoot it and do a review here. While I was waiting for my NICS check which took a long 5 minutes (eat your hearts out NJ), I browsed the ammo and found some Privi Partisan .380 for $20 a box. Two weeks ago I bought some Federal .380 for $17.99 a box so it looks like ammo is starting to get back to some semblance of normalcy. I have also noticed that online gun retailers, like Impact Guns, are actually putting guns on sale. Ruger seems to have done a run of their popular Alaskan revolver as I have seen both the .44 mag and .454 Casull versions available." ... |

"EP Lowers recently reached out to me to tell me about their polymer 80% lowers. EP Lowers is a relatively new company, and what separates them from the competition is that their lowers are jig-less. Jigs can be kinda pricey with some of them costing over $100. EP Lowers is the first company to make a jig-less lower. I spoke with a few folks at EP Lowers and asked them how this feat was accomplished. They said the following:" ... |

The voices of the silent majority must speak up." ... -------

"'Cold Steel' is a movie set on a Pacific island in WWII, where Hong Kong action star Guo Minxiang plays a Japanese sniper with a torn shirt and…an American M1941 Johnson Rifle? And a variable-power riflescope that wouldn’t be invented for another twenty-five years? Really, now: Arisakas may not get much love among American shooters but they’re actually excellent rifles, and just about any period rifle would be a superior sniper weapon to the recoiling-barrel M1941 Johnson and its delicate magazine. Why does Hollywood (or in this case, Hong Kong action cinema) get guns so wrong most of the time? . . ." ... |

"With draconian new gun laws (so-called 'assault weapons' ban, standard capacity magazine ban, etc.) set to go into effect in Maryland on October 1, Maryland residents are doing what citizens always do in the face of impending oppressive gun laws--buy them while they still can. This has caused an unprecedented spike in demand in Maryland. Maryland's approach to background checks is already different from that of most states.
