It is very instructive that Guns And Ammo would call the late President a "Gun Owner's Champion."
JoinTogether Online also praises Ronald Reagan for his efforts to strengthen gun control.

Read about Reagan's actions and decide for yourself.

"Later, in 1994, Reagan directly lobbied Members of Congress to pass the federal Assault Weapons Ban. ..."

"Reagan's legacy includes support for stronger gun laws. It's true that while Reagan was President, he did not champion these initiatives. And in 1986, Reagan signed NRA-backed legislation that actually weakened federal gun regulations."

"But in his later years, Reagan bucked his own party and lobbied for bills like the Assault Weapons Ban. He knew it was the right thing to do. Contrast his actions with the current President -- who refuses to lift a finger to save and strengthen the ban -- and you understand why Reagan should be praised, not mocked as a traitor."

Alan Korwin: The "Fabricius Method" is not science

"Fabricius-and-son 'found' Maricopa County had two defensive gun uses (DGUs), seven gunshot suicides and 81 gunshot incidents in 103 days. However, police precincts locally receive gunshot reports in the thousands. Official Arizona mortality reports suggest 161 gunshot suicides during the study period, not seven. If Fabricius’ count is 23 times too low, as suicides imply, two DGUs represent 46 lives saved/crimes prevented. Similar factors are posted on my website, gunlaws.com."

"If the team had used USA Today instead of a community newspaper, the Fabricius Method would have found zero lives saved and zero crimes prevented by gunfire, for the entire country, for an entire year (2001). That is not science."

"It is very easy to accuse supporters of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as being single-issue voters, but this myth is generated by a political machine that is becoming more transparent with every election cycle. There is an organized attack on all of our liberties. And one way to guarantee the growth of a tyrannical government is to be stripped of the ability to defend against one."

"Analysis of data on suicide methods by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that among youth aged 10-14 years, suffocation (mostly hangings) has replaced firearms as the most common method of suicide. In 2001, suffocation suicides in this age group occurred nearly twice as often as firearms suicides, the most frequently used method before 1997. The findings were released today in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report along with data on the relationship between suicide attempts and physical fighting in high school students, school-associated suicides, suicide trends in Hispanic populations, and suicide trends in China."

"First there is pain - brief and surging - then collapse."

"The muscles give way and people hit by Taser guns become temporarily immobile."

"The guns give out an electrical jolt, releasing about 50,000 volts in a five-second burst. Some have questioned whether that shock can be lethal, with new concerns arising from the recent death of a Lake Mary, Fla., man a day after Orlando, Fla., police subdued him with a Taser gun."

"But both doctors and the stun gun's maker dismiss the notion as groundless - and fueled by a lack of understanding of the science behind the weapons."

"Then comes the 'lesser of two evils' argument that urges people to vote for a third-party candidate or to stay at home since neither major candidate rises to their ideal. The ever-present third-party appeal fails to recognize that if its argument cannot persuade the major party from which it departs, it has even less chance of persuading a majority of the electorate." ...

"Collectively, the conservatives who gravitate to one or more of these ideas constitute the greatest barrier to Bush's second term. Perhaps these people should take a lesson from Ronald Reagan, who told a trusted ally: 'I'd rather get 80 percent of the goal than to ride off the cliff waving a flag.' "

-------
KABA Note: Ask yourself the following: Am I getting 80 percent of the goal with Bush in the White House? If your goal is freedom, you aren't even getting 40 percent.

This is probably the only time in the election cycle when these elitist !@# really listen to their constituents (time to throw the bums out). --Robert Lewis

A Maritime Self-Defense Force seaman who flashed his genitals at a young woman as they rode a JR Yokosuka Line train has been arrested, police said.

Osamu Hirajo, 41, the sailor, was arrested for indecent exposure.

He admits to the allegations.

Police said Hirajo and the 21-year-old student were riding a train on Saturday night when the sailor suddenly undid his trousers and flashed his private parts at the young woman sitting opposite him.

After she realized what Hirajo had done, the woman collared the sailor who performs clerical work, and alerted the police.

Officers were waiting at Higashi Zushi Station to arrest Hirajo when he got off.

They had all had special training for dealing with dangerous situations. They had a mobile incident centre and full back-up."

"Georgina Gibson lives in the house next door to where the shots were fired. She is a woman of 58 with no training about what to do when faced with guns and no experience of violence. She had nothing except her wits with which to protect herself."

"Yet while Mrs Gibson ran straight into her neighbour's house the moment she heard the gunshots, desperate to do anything she could to help the victims, the armed policemen hesitated for a full hour before they crossed the threshold of the house in which Victoria Horgan lay bleeding to death."

"In a recent vote, the faculty at Utah Valley State College endorsed by a 2-to-1 margin the University of Utah's ban on firearms. This majority position is correct two reasons."

"First, it is extremely dubious that the presence of armed citizens makes campuses 'safer.' " ...

KABA Note: Tell that to the thousands of people who defensively use firearms to save their own lives each year.

"At the time of its framing, the patriots needed desperately to rebuff Great Britain's well-equipped infantry. Their best hope was to form a militia from the ranks of an armed civilian population."

"So the intent of the Second Amendment was to ensure the existence of a well-regulated militia to protect Americans from invading foreign forces, not to protect us from one another. That is the job of law enforcement. ..."

KABA Note: It is also to protect the people from a tyrannical government - petty tyrants like yourself, who do not understand that the right to life necessarily implies the right to defend that life with the most effective tools available.

And as far as relying on police to protect us from violence... they are under no obligation to defend you.

"The June 4 Associated Press article on the failure of CoBIS (the Combined Ballistic Identification System) is just another example of how liberal, anti-gun politicians waste taxpayer dollars on ideas that have no merit and no positive effect on violent crime."

"When the bill was debated, legislators were informed that the system wouldn't work. When it is used in the federal system to determine if like guns were used in other crimes, it has some use.
