... "That is significant, particularly in Connecticut, where draconian measures were enacted in the wake of Newtown, and where Democrat Gov. Dannell P. Malloy has made 'gun control' a defining platform of his administration, one he’s been vocal about extending to the national level. Yet Belsito and Horn were competing for the gun owner vote, not for the citizen disarmament faction. " ... |

"Rep. Jeff Duncan must not be very good at Googling. His 'revelation' that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is tooled-up is about as new as the 'discovery' that Israel is the birthplace of some particularly attractive women. Back in August 2010, TTAG reported on an IRS raid on Tennessee rapper David Darnell Brown (a.k.a. 'Young Buck') where agents were equipped with plenty ‘o shotguns. Here’s a fedbizopps.gov bid solicitation for 60 Remington shotguns for the Tea Party tormentors. All that said, usnews.com reports that Rep Duncan’s got his knickers in a twist because the IRS has joined law enforcement officers nationwide in switching from scatterguns to rifles . . ." ... |

"California Senator Barbara Boxer sees last week’s shooting in Santa Monica as a boon for anti-gun groups. During an interview on MSNBC, after the obligatory sad-faced 'our thoughts and prayers go out to the families' statement, she let us know exactly where her thoughts really are: on gun control. It didn’t take her long to wave the Sandy Hook bloody shirt, then said the Santa Monica shooting will help the gun control movement because 'it gives us wind at our back.' That should help offset all the hot air coming out of her front and keep her from falling over. And at the same time, across the nation in Jersey . . ." ... |

"Kevin Brittingham, founder of Advanced Armament Corp (one of the three big silencer manufacturers in the US), was abruptly fired from his position at the helm of the company just a few short months after AAC was acquired by The Freedom Group. At the time, both Freedom Group and Kevin held their cards close to their respective vests. But now Kevin has filed suit against Freedom Group claiming that they owe him millions of dollars, there were no grounds for the termination and that it was merely a ploy by the conglomerate to avoid paying him. Now all the chips are being laid on the table . . ." ... |

... "Walther is a company on the rise. As you can probably tell by all of the press attention, the venerable old German arms maker has really hit one out of the park with their PPQ M2. My initial impression of the PPQ M2 is that it may just be the best GLOCK clone made to date. Nonetheless, while the PPQ M2 may be all the rage, another new less expensive 'entry level' Walther handgun recently hit the market: the PPX. To be honest, when I first unboxed the PPX, I thought it was a frickin’ Hi-Point. Which is to say that it’s rather, um, portly and homely in the looks department. And apparently I’m not alone in this observation. But after spending a couple of months testing the PPX, I’ve really warmed up to this plump princess . . ." ... |

"I keep reading about trigger resets in gun forums. Guys will recommend buying one gun over the other because it has a short trigger reset and therefore can shoot follow-up shots much faster. The problem is that they usually mean faster at paper targets that do not shoot back either at the range or in competition, although most who talk about trigger resets do not even compete. There are several things wrong with training to use trigger resets for self-defense." ... |

"Everyone knows the horrific power of a dark, monstrous tornado. When a powerful tornado (rated by the National Weather Service as an EF-4 with winds up to 200 MPH) ripped through central Oklahoma in May 2013, homeowner Pat Brand lost everything. He huddled along with 10 neighbors in a protective underground shelter as the violent storm roared overhead. When he emerged after the tornado passed, gone were his home, truck and a Smith &Wesson® handgun that was equipped with Crimson Trace Lasergrips." ... |

"We need to follow the lead of Connecticut on the national level and enact commonsense gun legislation that also respects and values the Second Amendment. We can preserve the rights of hunters and sportsmen, and still keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't be armed and prevent deadly assaults with weapons that can fire six bullets per second, like the one used at Sandy Hook." ... -------

"An Illinois prosecutor is refusing to prosecute carriers of concealed weapons in his county, even though the governor is still weighing the bill that would allow concealed carry statewide. The attorney’s announcement puts him amongst a burgeoning crop of local officials nationwide who are 'going rogue' in civil disobedience efforts against mounting calls for greater gun control." ... -------

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. — Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court (1939-75) |
