"These are those who have robbed us of our freedom and enforce their tyranny on us through armed force and other extortive means. These are those that are the enemy, not some people off in other lands far removed from us. The people in the far off lands, excepting for the governments, want no more than what we want - the freedom to live our lives as we want, not as some lame-duck person such as Bush dictates."

""Almost all of the qualified historians and constitutional-law scholars who have studied the subject concur. The overwhelming weight of authority affirms that the Second Amendment establishes an individual right to bear arms, which is not dependent upon joining something like the National Guard. It goes without saying that like all constitutional rights, the right to keep and beararms is subject to reasonable regulation consistent with its purpose." "

"Of all the people who look at aviation security, in my opinion, there's no one that has more experience than a pilot," said the subcommittee chairman, Rep. John Mica, R-Fla. "Each day, they see and they know the weaknesses of the system and they are asking to arm and defend themselves. Congress has a responsibility to hear their plea in this matter."

So why is the House aviation subcommittee voting to allow only 2% of all commercial pilots to be armed, for a 2-year "trial period"?

"The president of a neighborhood group told the Hagerstown City Council Tuesday that it is concerned about a gun shop opening up in the Hagerstown HotSpot area, but city officials said there was nothing the city could do to stop it."

"A gun shop is not the type of business the area needs, said Greg Hannigan, chairman of the Neighborhoods First Broadway-North Group, which has 30 active members and represents 600 people."

"He expressed concern someone would break in to the business, which is to be in the 600 block of Potomac Avenue, to steal guns."

"It is a very unwelcome addition to our neighborhood," he said. It will also be an eyesore, he said.

KABA NOTE: Greg, we'd like to formally invite you to pack your bags and head for Cuba -- so you don't have to deal with the "eyesore" of a shop that caters to a basic human right.
