Bolsonaro pledged when campaigning for the presidency last year to change the laws to allow more Brazilians to bear arms for self defense. The temporary measure needs Congressional approval to remain on the books, however.
The Senate move still needs to be approved by the lower house which could vote the bill down, upholding the decree with the support of representatives of the gun lobby and farm sector who were instrumental in electing Bolsonaro. |

Occasionally, I like to pop over the pond to see what our British cousins are up to regarding crime and punishment. After all, we all know how the left likes to cite Europe as prescient forecasters of social and cultural trends, including crime-fighting. Well, get ready for this bit of genius.
Building off my colleague Brian Brinker’s excellent take on this subject, where he told us about a suggestion a retiring Luton Crown Court judge, Nic Madge, made in a speech. The judge called for restrictions on knife sales—kitchen knives. He also believes the cops should establish kitchen knife point-dulling programs. |

Former Vice President Joe Biden sure is a fiction fan. So much, in fact, he’s conjuring up spy theater as his presidential campaign gun control answer. I wish I was making this up, but the sad truth is the leader for the Democratic nomination for the presidency is betting on special effects and compelling storylines to set America’s Second Amendment policies.
His latest idea was gun manufacturers already have the capability to produce DNA-activated firearms, capable of only firing by those who have a biological match. His remarks on the subject were delivered to 180 donors from New York City’s Upper East Side this weekend. |

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking a California board's effort to ban gun shows from a San Diego County fairground.
Federal District Judge Cathy Bencivengo issued a verbal order from the bench preventing the Del Mar Fair Board from enforcing a moratorium they recently adopted on gun shows at their fairgrounds. The case was filed by a coalition of gun-rights groups after the board passed the ban in January.
The Second Amendment Foundation, the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action, and California Rifle and Pistol Assocation joined a number of gun dealers and clubs as well as five private citizens to challenge the board in court. |

In January, 2018, 25-year-old Alexander Weiss shot 17-year-old Muhammed Rahim in a claimed act of self-defense. Muhammed died. The case captured the attention of people in the gun culture because the prosecutor used the fact that Weiss' car had a political bumper sticker on it as probable cause to indict Weiss. The bumper sticker made a statement about gun control. I wrote about the case in 2018.
The sticker said: GUN CONTROL IS HITTING YOUR TARGET. |

An Ohio House committee on Wednesday considered legislation opposed by law enforcement groups that would drop the requirement for people carrying concealed weapons to say they are armed during interactions with officers.
The bill sponsored by Republicans Rep. Ron Hood, of Ashville, and Rep. Thomas Brinkman Jr., of Cincinnati, would also eliminate requirements for firearms training, background checks and a license before people over 21 can conceal carry. |

A homeowner shot and killed a woman's ex-boyfriend as he intruded into the home on Detroit's west side with the intent to kill, witnesses say.
"He out to kill. He didn't care," said a female resident, who did not wish to be identified.
Police say a 20-year-old Hispanic man entered a home on Chopin Street on around 10 p.m. Tuesday without permission. The woman says she was inside the home when that man, carrying a gun, allegedly forced his way inside. |

To help with your concealed carry, how about considering a modern 1911 pistol with a sub-compact, shortened grip frame (officer’s-style) combined with a longer but compact slide and barrel (commander’s-style?) This is called a “CCO” (Concealed Carry Officer’s) design and the idea is to have less grip height to help with concealment, while also having a longer barrel to enhance velocity and performance. |

In fact, Ms. Okafor is just part of something we are seeing in some other groups that support the Second Amendment, notably Turning Point USA: The next generation of Second Amendment defenders is diverse. We’re seeing African Americans like Ms. Okafor, Candace Owens (former communications director at TPUSA), 2018 and 2020 U.S. Senate candidate John James, rapper/fashion designer Kanye West, and NRATV’s Colin Noir. Hispanic Americans like TPUSA’s Anna Paulina and NRATV’s Gabby Franco are also prominently defending the Second Amendment. |

When Kimberly Matte captions an Instagram post “suns out, guns out, buns out,” she mostly means it. The sun may be out, but she’s inside. Her buns are definitely out, because she’s wearing a lime-green thong. Technically, there’s only one gun out, but it’s an AR-10 battle rifle, so she’s still overdelivering. |

Marlin Reinhart had an opinion piece in The Morning Call the other day claiming that the Second Amendment no longer served a national purpose because the original state militias were transformed into the National Guard. But I noticed the one thing he forgot is that the state militias’ original purpose was in case our own government became too corrupt, the state militias of armed citizens were supposed to be a line of protection from the government-controlled military. |

Morshed, 28, of Hudson, was accused of killing of 19-year-old Inderly Instinfil on June 17, 2018 at 20 Fairview Ave. He was charged with second-degree murder, a class A-1 felony.
The seven-man, five-woman jury deliberated for about two-and-a-half days before reaching their verdict. Over the course of the deliberations, jurors asked for replays of a 911 call just after the shooting. They also asked the judge to repeat the definition for justification of self-defense under the law. Jurors were asked to consider a lesser charge of second-degree manslaughter as an alternative to the murder charge. They returned a not-guilty verdict on each charge. |
