Two national polls released this week have an alarmingly similar finding: Majorities in both surveys say the current tone of political debate is encouraging violence, with more Democrats than Republicans or Independents saying so.
Rasmussen Reports said Tuesday that 76 percent of likely U.S. Voters think there is “a danger of political violence” because of the current tone of the political debate. |

The .44 Special was introduced more than 100 years ago, and is a modernization of 19th century .44-cal. revolver cartridges made for blackpowder. It is well-regarded by target shooters and may very well be one of the world’s most inherently accurate handgun cartridges. As such, the .44 Spl. has primarily been factory-produced in target loadings with soft-lead bullets. |

Attorneys, advocates and law enforcement officials turned out in full force Monday to back Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s first nominee to the New Hampshire Supreme Court. But Executive Council members said they left the public hearing with some questions about Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi’s lack of familiarity with a landmark decision on gun rights and a constitutional law scholar she cited as an influence.

When the Democratic Party and the establishment media overreached and pushed all manner of gun control in the wake of the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary (Dec. 14, 2012), something unexpected happened: Americans rejected more gun laws and purchased more guns. To put it plainly, Americans embraced self-defense anew and chose a gun in the hand (or the purse) over another gun law on the books. |

The article “Gun owners get to know their AR-15s better in 2-day course,” June 17, 2017, is filled with so much inaccurate information about Utah firearm instructors. I am saddened the HJ published it. I am a NRA Training Counselor living in Logan. When I was at NRA Headquarters three years ago, I was informed Utah is inundated with Training Counselors and Certified Firearm Instructors because of its denizens’ dedication to Boy Scouts and Second Amendment. The joke at the time was, “You can’t turn a corner in Utah without bumping into a firearms instructor.” |

A Republican lawmaker introduced legislation on Tuesday to allow trained members of Congress to carry guns for self-defense in the wake of last week’s shooting at a GOP baseball practice. Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) wants to ensure all lawmakers can qualify for concealed-carry permits that could be used in any state, regardless of local laws. "The tragic events of last week make it clearer than ever that we need to take steps to enable members of Congress to protect themselves," Babin said in a statement. |

Looking at the past five years earnings from 2012 to 2016 for RGR, it has averaged yearly earnings of $74,025,000 with totals sales averaging $587,999,000 which represents an average growth of 5.49% and 7.81% in net income and total sales respectively. In 2016, RGR had a net income of $87,472,000 and total sales of $664,328,000 which were both above the 5-year averages. In my opinion, based off of the variance in sales and net income around the averages, it would lead me to conclude that RGR should be classified as a low to no growth company which will be taken into account when discounting their cash flows to come up a with a valuation. |

You want to protect the people around you. If you teach self-defense, then you’ve had a few students who haven’t thought through what will happen after they act in another's defense. If you’re a new gun owner, then now is the time to think about the use of lethal force in defense of our lives or others. We can do too much as well as too little. It is too late to make fine moral distinctions in the fleeting moment when your friends need help.

After swiftly expanding gun-rights laws during the first few years that Republicans took control of the state legislature, the charge to loosen firearms restrictions has slowed – until now. The state House passed a bill this month that pits gun owners against each other. It would nearly eliminate concealed handgun permits and the training that goes with them, and would set the minimum age at 18 to carry a concealed gun. Under current law, people 21 and older can apply for a permit to carry a concealed gun, and anyone 18 or older can carry a handgun openly.

The law prohibiting shooting a gun that’s resting on a motor vehicle – or even resting the gun up against a motor vehicle – has been changed. I remember a hunter who got a summons for leaning his loaded gun up against his truck while he had lunch. So we owe Representative Joel Stetkis a thank you for successfully amending this law, and to DIF&W for supporting this law change which was enacted by the legislature and signed into law by the governor.

Points everyone needs to take away from this:
1) Decisive and IMMEDIATE return fire doubtless prevented a much larger massacre. 2) Those who go armed routinely, and have IMMEDIATE access to guns, are the only ones who can possibly influence these kinds of terrorist incidents in any meaningful way. 3) Competent training is the only way through which one can adequately prepare to deliver precise, war-winning fire on pernicious threats, at the moment it is required. Simply “giving guns” to the incompetent accomplished nothing!
