In a press conference on Thursday, Maryland Heights Police Chief Bill Carson said: “A lot of communities have had problems with car break-ins, apartment parking lots, hotel parking lots, different locations throughout the municipality. Unfortunately, it seems like we have been getting a lot of guns stolen out of cars, people leaving guns in their cars.”
Submitters note: Just maybe, if you didn't restrict carry in so many places, people wouldn't leave their guns in their car. |

For the last twenty years we’ve seen mad men murdering our children because the crazy person wanted to get their name in the news. Why has there been even a single mass murder in a church or school after the murders in Columbine, Colorado two decades ago? We can and should save our children.
Some people disagree. |

Later Wednesday, Republican House Speaker Larry Householder said he delayed a committee vote on the gun measure after gun owners expressed concern over the leaflet amendment. Householder said he wants that amendment removed.
Householder cited a drafting error in different gun legislation approved last year that gun rights advocates say could have inadvertently banned several types of legal guns.
Householder said on Facebook he doesn't want such "carelessness" to affect the concealed weapons measure. |

We all undoubtedly remember Mel Gibson’s advice to his young son in the blockbuster hit The Patriot; “aim small, miss small.” While it was a catchy phrase well placed in the film, it does encapsulate the general premise that finer accuracy requires more precise and deliberate aiming. When we apply this to the use of the defensive handgun under the realistic chaos and relatively close range as encountered in defensive shooting, precise aim rarely plays a significant factor. |

Today, the Oregon Senate Minority Caucus left the Capitol building and are refusing to attend floor sessions in order to prevent a quorum on certain pieces of legislation. Because of this, anti-gun legislators are now threatening to bring back the omnibus gun control package, Senate Bill 978, by forcing a floor vote should enough Senators return to the Capitol. In order to prevent SB 978 from being considered, a quorum must not be reached for the remainder of the legislative session, which is to run through June 30th. |

Of the three types of firearms, shotguns are probably the most versatile. They’re easy to use and run the gamut in terms of practicality. A firearm — rifle, pistol or shotgun — usually easily fills the role of self-defense or recreational gun, but a no-frills, plain Jane shotgun will meet the needs of both and a bunch in between. However, while the ammo and activities are often the same, different shotgun actions offer can very different experiences. |

Congrats, you have selected your concealed carry (CC) gun and are ready to buy a holster that has high-quality workmanship, is comfortable, durable, and very reliable.
You know you do not want to settle for a $20 nylon or lesser quality holster that may let you down when you need it most. You carry In-the-Waistband (IWB) and know there are many types and prices of holsters. |

Despite many states legalizing medical marijuana, the fact that it remains illegal under federal law has forced some U.S. military veterans into a difficult choice. Using the drug to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) could cost them their their constitutional right to bear arms.
The problem results from a question that gun buyers must answer when going through a federal background check: "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?" |

All too often, advocates of strict gun control promise that more complex and convoluted laws will save lives without imposing a serious burden on the right of law-abiding citizens to exercise their constitutional rights.
Their argument simply doesn’t hold up. Their gun control laws fail not only to address how actual criminals get their firearms, but they also impose a real burden on ordinary citizens’ Second Amendment rights. They even risk making felons out of otherwise law-abiding citizens. |

An Ohio House committee on Wednesday considered legislation opposed by law enforcement groups that would drop the requirement for people carrying concealed weapons to say they are armed during interactions with officers.
The bill sponsored by Republicans Rep. Ron Hood, of Ashville, and Rep. Thomas Brinkman Jr., of Cincinnati, would also eliminate requirements for firearms training, background checks and a license before people over 21 can conceal carry. |

A new group has appeared, dedicated to reforming the National Rifle Association. The group, a 501(c)(4), goes by the title “Save the Second.” According to their website, they want the NRA to be more effective, focused, accountable, and responsive to its membership. They have a platform of 5 goals which they say will go a long way toward returning the NRA to its true mission of firearm safety and training, support for the shooting sports, and Second Amendment advocacy: |

Our friends at Ammoland.com and the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) have alerted us to the VCDL Special Session Lobby Day on Tuesday, July 9, starting at 9 a.m.
This event is critical! With razor-thin pro-2A margins in the House and Senate, a single legislator defection could spell significant erosion of our Second Amendment rights in the Commonwealth of Virginia. |

With the July 1 full enactment of anti-gun Initiative 1639 looming in Washington State, yet another community has resolved to be a “sanctuary” for gun owners at the same time that Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee told the New York Times, “We’ve got the NRA on the run in Washington State.”
Whether that’s accurate is speculative at best, but it is clear from recent Evergreen State history that Inslee and the Seattle-based gun prohibition lobby, with its billionaire backers, do not have the state’s beleaguered gun owners running from anything. |
