Which means if Muir is to be able to continue the work, to sustain himself, and to maybe even prosper and enjoy well-deserved recognition, it’s up to those who receive value from it to give some back in return -- not as a donation, but as appreciative compensation for enjoyment provided, wisdom imparted, and services rendered." ...

"Stepping down from his position as executive director of former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 'Everytown for Gun Safety' (formerly 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' and 'Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America'), Mark Glaze startled gun rights advocates with an unprompted acknowledgement of a basic fact that we have been hammering for years. Glaze admitted that the high profile mass shootings that 'gun control' groups so callously, opportunistically exploit to advance their forcible citizen disarmament agenda would not have been prevented by the measures they claim these shootings prove the need for. "Tactical Firearms is appealing to the public for help fighting what it claims is a politically motivated problem with its bank."

"The Katy, Texas, gun store has made a national name for itself by posting snarky political signs – mostly opposing liberal gun-grabbers and Obama – on its outdoor marquee."

"BizPac Review has reported on several of the good-humored signs in the past, but it seems there’s not a lot to laugh about these days, according to the company’s web site and newsletter. The lengthy plea claims that the bank has called in on a loan that could put the store out of business. Here is some of the explanation from the site:" ...

"If you combined the entire U.S. firearms industry into one company, its turnover wouldn’t match the money generated by any one of the top ten companies on the Fortune 500 list. If you want to invest your hard-earned money in a publicly traded gunmaker, Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger are just about it. So those of us looking to gauge the health of the American firearm biz look at their reports with keen interest. 'Smith & Wesson ignited a selloff on Friday after reporting a slight drop in fourth-quarter earnings and a disappointing outlook for the new fiscal year,' foxbusiness.com reports. "After three weeks on the road, about 36,000 shots fired by 90 or so students. I have some time at home, which will be devoted to writing. 'Instructor' cap comes off, 'gun writer' hat goes on. Ten or so guns will be tested in the coming days."

It gave me a 300 out of 300 when I shot a pace-setter qualification with it for our Illinois class. If you’re testing a deer rifle for an outdoor sports magazine, you’ll want to go deer hunting with it; if you’re testing a combat pistol, well, you’ll want to shoot a 'combat pistol course' with it to see how it performs. ..." ...

"On an unseasonably crisp Southern California morning I cycled a cartridge into a World War I era Lee-Enfield Mark III* and squeezed the trigger. The rifle cracked, the brass buttplate punched hard into my shoulder and, for the first time in more than half a century, the 97-year-old battle rifle sent a bullet spinning downrange. The 1917 Mark III* had been my father’s before it was mine. After his death it went into the closet, locked away, until that morning a few weeks ago . . ."

"One of the higher end acquisitions by the Freedom Group in recent years is the rifle maker Nesika. Purchased in 2009, the rifle maker has continued to churn out guns with some pretty great specs and a price to match. New for 2014 Nesika is releasing a 'tactical' version of their rifle in both .308 Winchester and .338 Lapua, and when I first read the spec sheet my mouth was watering. It seems to check every box for a truly great bolt action rifle. I had to get my hands on one and see if it lived up to the hype." ...

"In his 2010 review of the Ruger 10/22, TTAG’s Brad Kozak called the .22 long rifle the Rodney Dangerfield of cartridges (it gets no respect). If that’s true, then the Marlin Model 60 is the Rodney Dangerfield of .22 rifles. Marlin bills the Model 60 as 'an economically priced rifle that’s earned the title of most popular 22 in the world.' In a world that hadn’t seen the 10/22, that claim would be inarguable, but alas, popularity is a slippery claim. In Marlin’s favor, however, is the fact that it has sold well over 11 million of these little semi-auto rifles. Fair enough . . ." ...

"When I first started writing for TTAG I owned (and reviewed) a Zastava MP22R rifle. It was an excellent little gun for the price I paid and served me well, not only for teaching basic marksmanship to new shooters but also for keeping my own skills sharp. Then something tragic happened: I sold it. I knew it was a mistake the second the cash hit my hand. Ever since that moment I have been looking for a worthy replacement, and in the process I think I may have found the perfect .22lr bolt action rifle: the CZ 455 Varmint . . ." ...

"First of all, yes, I have not been the biggest proponent of OCT’s *PAST* tactics, but those have changed and the group is seeking a positive change for gun rights in Texas. However, while I have been against one specific action ... I also recognize that the group is operating safely and with a specific political goal in mind."

"Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens’ book, 'Six Amendments,' came out in April. Since April, when I first checked more than a week ago, 67 people had been killed by killers with guns and an astounding 210 wounded in U.S. mass shootings. Ooops. Checked five days later, those numbers grew to 79 dead, 226 wounded — as of June 15. As you read this, there are surely more."

"What connects these items is that among the “six amendments” to the Constitution proposed by Stevens is one directly affecting guns — more to the point, this notion that we have a virtually unfettered right to own them." ...

"The right to bear arms is going crazy. People, mostly white males, are carrying rifles everywhere. Their reason? Because if they do not do this, they’ll lose their rights…huh? There is a reason why they call it a right? No government official can take away your rights to have a firearm and since the Constitution does not say you are not allowed to carry in public, state rights allows people to carry in public. The disturbing trend though is, corporations allow people to carry their firearms in their place of business:" ...

Critics of the change say it will do little to slow mass shooters, while making it harder for law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves against a threat."

"Gov. Chris Christie has until late June to act ..." ...
