The latest round of craziness from Airstrip One... According to this very brief and inconspicuous article in the Telegraph, more than 100 people get into a brawl at a wedding. At least six end up being stabbed or cut.
"One guest was stabbed twice in the neck with a screwdriver and at least five others suffered knife wounds. A restaurant manager who saw the attack, said: 'The bride was standing there in her long, flowing white dress and she was sobbing her eyes out. I felt so sorry for her, her wedding had been ruined'." |

"Six people were killed and at least five injured during what officials termed an especially violent first weekend of the summer in Chicago."
I'm sure all these will be solved in a matter of days... after all, any firearms owned within Chicago have to be registered. And you can't legally even own a handgun there unless it was already registered with the city by 1982, so that ought to narrow it down, right? |

"The National Rifle Association on Monday lost a Supreme Court appeal over whether the government can temporarily hold onto information about gun buyers under the landmark Brady gun control law. The court, without comment, turned aside the NRA's challenge to the way the FBI handles information gathered from on-the-spot background checks in gun stores."

Is it just me or do the police seem a bit "trigger happy" these days?
KABA NOTE: The original title for this story in New York's "Newsday" was, "Mo. Probes Fatal BB Gun Shooting," leading you to believe that someone got killed WITH a BB-gun. Very Clever.
Too bad Police Chief Joe Mokwa isn't as clever, or he never would have said, "It's a tough judgment call. It's frightening out there at night.' It wouldn't be so "frightening" if citizens were allowed to be armed. It would cut the criminal activity and population down, so the cops wouldn't have to be so scared of being on the street. |
