"The civilian disarmament advocates at slate.com took a look at a recent Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council report, a non-profit think tank that publishes studies with the aim to assist the government in their decision-making process. And much to their dismay, it seems to have debunked just about every major claim that gun control advocates made in their recent push for an assault weapons ban . . ." ... |

"Louisiana passed a bill that makes it illegal to publish personal information on concealed carriers. This came in response to the outrage last December after a newspaper in New York published an interactive map that showed the names and addresses of handgun permit holders in two counties. As you can imagine, the MSM is livid. Rebecca Savastio with the Guardian Express proclaims they’ve 'criminalized journalism' with the passage of this bill. I wonder how she’d feel if a someone published her address, home phone, cell phone, work phone, and a list of valuables she has in her home ... After all, it’s 'an infringement on the right to free speech through the concept of prior restraint' to deny us the right to do so. And . . ." ... |

"I had blogged about how we should worry about States imposing more gun control now that the Feds have fizzled out. They are still talking about a do over and watering down a proposal just so they can say the Democratic Senate did something about gun control. This will make the next Democratic Presidential candidate more attractive. I have a feeling it will be Hillary as they will use the gender card to try to win over the large number of mothers who voted for Obama and are in favor of gun control. Got to love our mothers. Mine keeps accusing me from moving away from here. Hmmmm. I did volunteer to go to Vietnam when I was 18 to get out of the house and then moved to Texas and then to Philadelphia and 9 other places. Maybe she was right. ..." ... |

"Apparently ID theft affects those of us over the age of 50 more than others. Although not directly a gun topic, Identities are stolen by felons in order to buy guns when only an ID is required. It is no secret to us city boys that willing Motor Vehicle employees willing to sell you a drivers license under any name you want, can be found in any major city. As someone who does security checks on people, I know that danger of just using one form of ID. These days we require two picture ID’s for a minimum. I have read enough stories about people using stolen identities to know that is does occur often enough to talk about. What is unclear to me is whether stolen Identities are report to NICS or not. ..." ... |

"People who research what happens after the flag flies will notice a dearth of real-life tales of self defense. Outside of law enforcement or published military accounts, there seems to be few or no tales of individual citizens telling their perspective on personal defense. It’s not because it doesn’t happen-if my example is telling, guns are frequently used for personal defense on likely a daily basis. Yet, there’s little or no documented proof for reasons you’ll soon discover . . ." ... |

"The current Zimmerman trial here in Florida is an eye opener as to how what you say and do on the internet can be used against you. Despite the various aliases and email addresses you use, if you shoot someone, your computer will be seized and searched for all those websites you visited. All websites have logs and keep information for very long periods of time. I can find posts I made before the internet became graphical, for example. Your cable company will be subpoenaed to provide a list of any IP addresses you used as their customer and asked for records of every IP (website) you visited. With that info everything you did or posted on the internet will be available as evidence. ..." ... |

"Walther’s PPS, or Police Pistol Slim, has been on the US market for quite a few years now. It was here long before the Smith & Wesson Shield and Springfield XDs was available to consumers. To be honest, as I did my research before purchasing one, I was a bit surprised at how little press the PPS has received despite the fact that it offers some unique features that even the current crop of great handguns have not yet matched. My overall experience with the handgun has been very positive so far, and I believe anyone looking for a single-stack, easily concealable handgun should give the PPS some serious consideration. They can be a bit rare, but I believe it’s worth it . . ." ... |

"The Second Amendment Foundation today has filed a [FOIL] request with the City of New York for all records relating to Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, after newspaper allegations that city resources have been used for MAIG’s gun control efforts. SAF is being joined in the request by the [CCRKBA], and Tom Gresham, host of the nationally-syndicated 'Gun Talk.' 'It was bad enough to learn via CBS News that the MAIG website was being hosted on a city-owned server, and administered by city employees,' said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, 'but it also appears that a special counselor in the mayor’s office was sent to lobby in Nevada on behalf of MAIG’s gun control agenda.' . . ." ... |
