The man and two women were asked to leave the gathering about an hour before the shooting happened, witnesses told police.
“The witnesses stated the male returned an hour later and was enraged, demanding to be let back inside,” McPhilamy said. “They stated he began kicking the door and making verbal threats toward everyone inside, and that when they opened the door the male abruptly reached for his waistband as though he was drawing a firearm.” |

In a previous article, I conducted an accuracy and terminal performance test of a home cast slug made using a mold produced by Lee. Accuracy of the slug at 50 yards was lackluster to say the least, so for the second test in my project to examine the numerous 12-gauge slugs available for handloaders, I assembled a bunch of rounds incorporating a projectile that was purportedly engineered to maximize accuracy out of a smooth bore gun. Results were mixed. Eschewing the “Pepsi challenge” format, I decided my next test would focus on a single slug load. |

Last night, the Kansas House of Representatives concurred with the Senate on House Bill 2278. In an unprecedented move, the Senate declared an emergency final action on the bill in an attempt to ram the legislation through the process without much opportunity for further scrutiny or study. The bill was then sent to the House where it passed only two hours later.
This unnecessary anti-self-defense legislation now heads to the desk of Governor Sam Brownback for his consideration. Please immediately contact Governor Sam Brownback and strongly urge him to VETO House Bill 2278. |

Authorities say a man who fatally shot another man during a confrontation at a car wash in Albuquerque will not be charged with a crime.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Raul Torrez said Friday that there was not enough evidence to obtain a conviction of James Morales.
Morales claimed he shot 59-year-old Earl Roybal on March 26 in self-defense. Torrez called the death a tragedy that never should have happened but said he lacks evidence to convict given the self-defense claim. |

A bill moving through the North Carolina House would eliminate the need for a concealed carry permit in most cases. House Bill 746 passed the House Committee on Finance this week.
The bill would allow people to carry a concealed handgun in places where you can legally carry one openly. But people are split on whether eliminating the steps to get the permit is the right way to go.
"I still feel in this state I live in, I should be able to go anywhere in the state and carry my pistol without worry of repercussions," said John Allred, who carries a concealed pistol. |

The state of Maryland adopted sweeping gun control provisions in 2013 and Baltimore just witnessed the highest January through May murder rate of any year on record.
The number of murders January through May alone–“146.”
According to The Baltimore Sun, the previous high for the first five months of a year was “139” killed in 1993. Prior to that the high was “138” killed during the first five months of 1996. There were 124 murders during the first five months of 2007, “the only year in the early 2000s that came close to the high number of homicides seen during the 1990s.” |

The pistol arrives at my house in a padded tote, the size you'd pack a picnic lunch in. It's a 9mm Glock 26, a "sub-compact" concealable semi-automatic. Diminutive, hammerless and made of polymer, to my eye, it's a true exotic. It's accompanied by two clips and a box of 115 grain ammo, missing one round. I think, How about that? I zip the tote back up, squirrel it away in my desk.
This Glock belongs to a friend. After suffering a major depressive "episode," as he called it, he's made me the weapon's custodian in perpetuity. Beyond keeping it out of his hands, I'm not sure of my responsibilities: Is there registration protocol to observe? What happens if he abruptly changes his mind? Is it OK for me to shoot this gun? |

Twenty-four Republican Representatives and one Democrat are pushing legislation that would make Pennsylvania gun owners a “protected class.”
Gun owners would be protected from discrimination by having their right to keep and bear arms firmly ensconced in the Pennsylvania Human Rights Act (PHRA).
According to the Pennsylvania Record, the legislation–House Bill 38–“is currently in committee,” but would protect gun-owning employees from employers who want to ban firearms on workplace property. For example, HB 38 would bar such employers from preventing gun owners from keeping firearms in their cars that could be retrieved for self-defense. |

In La Porte, Texas, a family is grateful they are OK after a suspect attempted to rob them Friday night at their home in La Porte.
According to the family, their teenage daughter was buying a cell phone. The arrangement was made on the internet. The seller was supposed to meet them in a public place on Friday evening, police said. There were delays and the family agreed to meet at their home. |

While perusing Second Amendment-related news this morning, an arm-waving lecture from Salon.com caught my eye. The anti-gun website republished a piece from left-wing site Alternet.org lamenting about all the people it believes will die at Georgia tailgate parties because of the state’s new campus-carry law, which takes effect July 1.
In the column, author Kali Holloway proves one thing and one thing only—that she doesn’t understand law-abiding citizens who carry concealed firearms for self-defense. |

In the U.S., sophisticated gun control advocates are careful to disguise their near-term aims as “common sense” reforms or “reasonable” gun safety measures. But what happens when all of these so-called “common sense” controls have been enacted? Will gun control advocates acknowledge their victory and permit the few remaining gun owners to live in peace? If recent experience in the United Kingdom is any indication, gun control advocates will not stop short of demanding total civilian disarmament. |

Republican lawmakers in the Kansas House and Senate caved to Michael Bloomberg-funded gun control groups and voted to water down the Kansas campus carry law.
The Senators voted on Thursday to exempt public mental health and hospital facilities from the campus carry law. The facilities were included initially because they are “public,” which means they enjoy tax-payer funding. The campus carry law was written so to ensure that the law-abiding citizens paying for the facilities could also exercise their constitutional rights while inside them. |

“Any person who from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2016 inclusive, lawfully possessed an assault weapon that does not have a fixed magazine as defined in Penal Code … including those weapons with an ammunition feeding device that can be readily removed from the firearm with the use of a tool (commonly referred to as a bullet-button weapon) must register the firearm before January 1, 2018,” the State of California mandated in a May regulation notice.

Multiple projectiles are possible for some semiautomatic pistol cartridges, and DoubleTap Ammo produces their two-projectile Equalizer line for the 9 mm, .40 S&W, 10 mm and .45 ACP. They accomplished this by using a light conventional bullet stacked over a lighter short bullet.
In the case of the 9 mm, it means a 115-grain bullet on top, and a 50-grain bullet under it for a combined weight of 165 grains. The 115-grain bullet is a traditional jacketed hollow point, and the loaded round looks like any other 9 mm round loaded with a jacketed hollow point bullet. Hiding under it is a short, full-wadcutter bullet with a gas check. The one I weighed was 48.9 grains. |

White’s bill is the first “constitutional carry” bill to receive a favorable hearing from a House committee.
A similar bill, House Bill 375, authored by State Representative Jonathan Stickland (R-Bedford) had a hearing in the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee but did not receive favorable consideration. The bill was left pending in the committee after its hearing.
