The "Wisconsin 6 Shooters" club hosted the Cowboy Fastdraw Association's state championships this weekend.
Shooters use old-fashioned pistols and wax bullets to shoot at a target about 20 feet away. They compete head to head, and the fastest three out of five shots gets a shooter to the next round.
Competitors really get into the spirit of the quick-shooting era, complete with clothing from the 1800's.
"The traditional aspect of it has really gained us a lot of popularity. And it's spreading all over the country very quickly," says Brad Hemmah, founder of the Cowboy Fastdraw Association.
More than 40 shooters took part in this weekend's competition. The winners in both the men's and women's division took home a new pistol and other prizes. |
